landrape artists doing their thing on my car (other fit) outside at home. at least they're doing it today and not over the weekend..

:hello: all TGIF

Rain in the forecast, but it wouldn't matter as Z is on jack stands today. ;)

Haboob 05-17-2013 09:38 AM

Thought I was going to be able to keep the Z somewhat clean for more than a week, but no. There's always some sort of dirt on the road or water running across it from over-watering of grass/field, or just a broken pipe. :shakes head:

I give up. I'm going to go back to once a month wash I think.

hummm... have you looked at getting these waterless washes? these are very convenient. :) just get a bunch of towels and use only one wipe so you dont drag grit.

Griot's Garage 11285 Spray-On Car Wash Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive

i get the above kit and then a gallon + towels. i use about 10 or so towel per wash. those green towels are fantastic. use product liberally to prevent swirls. :)

Well suspension and spacers, plus im cleaning the whole area and detailing the wheels while they are off the car.

Any recommendations on getting rid of the rust formed on the hub part where the wheels come in contact + the hub centric ring that looks like an old water pipe :icon14::barf: I was thinking of some wd40 or pb blaster + a wire brush.

sounds like fun. yah, soft wirebrush is what i would use for that, blast some RC car motor spray to clean it all off, then hit it with some engine enamel (after masking the rotor pad contact area) if you want to take it the extra mile. :p

the weird results i got from my fit was that when i used duplicolor engine enamel primer, the matte black paint chipped off after one winter season.

when i did NOT use their primer on my previous fit, the paint did NOT chip off even after 5yrs..

yah, it's nice to have that option to clean it at home with no hose. for me it does not go any faster than washing the car with a hose and bucket, but at least i can store the car in the garage without worring about rusting my suspension bits and wat not. even with a blower, i cant get the water 100% out.

 wire brush it is. However, I'm not sure I'll be painting because I would think putting paint on the hub centric ring and the center part that touches the back side of the wheel can cause vibrations because surface might not be perfectly even any more.

Watched two runs of V8 practice, a Porsche GT3 qualifying and Pirelli track race. Called it a day on account of rumbling tummies. Had a blast!
