:eekdance: that might be too bright for me... i got these cheapo's from amazon that is low profile and has 4 surface mounted LED's... so i hope they are not TOO bright.

If it's just 4 LEDs, then it probably won't be.

Mine are like 9, or 392, I don't remember - I see spots every time I look at them. :icon17:

I've thought about getting a layer of window tint (or something similar) and putting over the lenses. Would kind of help them "blend" during the day and not put me on the Sun when they come on.

yah, i didn't want the bulb to be too bright, and i wasn't sure how much clearance was allowed inside so got the lowest profile one i could find. :D

maybe you can use those for your trunk or rear plate wedges and get lower power ones for your maplights?

Possibly.

The one I did get for the trunk (similar to the license plate bulbs) is not very bright at all, though it also opens up to a wide space with not much to shine onto.

I'll have to look into this.

with the LED's in your maplight, does it dim at all before the lamp turns off like it does with incandescent bulbs? or is it more digital, meaning, ON or OFF.

kenchan 05-15-2013 11:34 AM

if it flickered a few times before solid ON, then it will be a total fail cause it will definitely remind me of flourscent toilet lamp. :icon17:

It's just on and off.

However, when it's "off" and the car is on (i.e. I'm driving) you still get a little glow from the LEDs.

Some people get it and some don't is what I've been told, but it's because the LEDs require less power to run and that extra power that is there for the regular bulbs keeps them somewhat glowing. :shakes head:

That's another reason I want to swap out the LEDs in the map light.

dang, that would suck if the LED is slightly lit while motoring... i hope mine are weak enough it doesn't do that. wont know until next weekend cause it's probably going to rain this weekend :( and if it doesn't, im pulling out my G. :p

will post up picts later tonight when i get my LED's in. :D
