On the highway south of Edmonton, there has been a "multi-vehicle" accident/pile-up. Hospitals nearest to the crash have gone into red alert and have been told to expect "many" injuries. No fatalities reported yet. And of course, the major highway has been completely closed. What a country. |

Alberta Health Services confirms that 300 people were injured — four seriously — in a multi-vehicle pileup on Highway 2 south of Edmonton that occurred during a spring snow storm which caused havoc on area highways. Patients are being transported to hospitals in Edmonton, Red Deer, Leduc, St. Albert, Fort Saskatchewan, Devon, Wetaskiwin, Stony Plain, Lamont and Camrose. AHS says that EMS staff will treat and take the most seriously hurt patients to hospitals; the rest will be transported by bus The number of vehicles involved in the pile-up has not been confirmed |
