I think they only came out with issues every 2 months or 3? It was great for them while it lasted though. I enjoyed reading their magazines a few years back. Print media is difficult to be in nowadays.

I honestly thought they went under years ago, given the current media environement I was suprised they lasted this long

It still stings that Sport Compact Car is gone :(

The magazine was sold under another name "SPORT Z". That magazine went out of business and the Nissan Sport took its place. I hate to see it go. It was an awesome read.

In time, hopefully someone will pick something up similar to it and carry the torch under another name.

I used to purchase this magazine up until last summer when it suddenly became impossible to find. It's sad to see it go. Truth is. Most Nissan Z/Skyline owners aren't enthusiasts who support the cause. Most Z owners could care less about there Z heritage. Same goes with Skyline/G's.

im a car enthusiast, but not a dedicated G or Z enthusiast.....

while the Z heritage is interesting, it's something wiki and youtube can help me with the read. the 2 cars i have in my garage happens to be nissans as they are cool cars and were made available. it couldve easily been a E46 and a S2000 if there was no french guy.

i dont remember the last time i actually spent money on a car magazine... people like me only read some initial reviews and afterwards just buy the car to really find out for himself. edmunds and the ample supply of reviews at youtube does fine for me.

I am going to miss finding this in my mailbox on the "when we get around to it" schedule -- I paid my subscription up for 2 years also. I guess they are going to send me "GrassRoots" magazine to fulfill their obligation. Whatever.

kenchan 01-07-2013 03:02 PM

that sucks, mr.onzedge. you are a true z enthusiast.

Yeah, where is my refund? :shakes head:

That's too bad. I enjoyed reading that magazine, when I could find it.

Unfortunately, current economic conditions (namely advertising and circulation) won't allow Nissan Sport magazine to continue operating. After struggling to make it though the recession, the sad truth is our publication was playing to a shrinking audience and ven lower potential revenue.

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine (GRM) will ensure that our loyal subscribers with issues still outstanding will get them. GRM will also get the feature I was working on for our almost completed (but still-born) winter issue, and they have plans to offer increased coverage of Nissan products and stories. Look for an announcement from GRM shortly.

All other assets are being liquidated to pay the final expenses of the magazine. Any pending sub orders or checks from the past few months will not be processed or cashed. Some may wonder if we've explored all the alternatives and I can assure you we have. Even putting out an e-zine the past two issues, using Facebook and a monthly FREE e-newletter got little response.

So while we've had to face reality, I'm happy that the quality of writing, content and design Nissan Sport put out hasn't wavered. As a quarterly magazine, we were consistently putting out a product to appeal to the Nissan enthusiast. There just aren't that many of us... And for thouse who think that Nissan was bankrolling us, nothing could be further from the truth.

As the former editor-in-chief, I'll continue to be a diehard Datsun/Infiniti/Nissan fan. You can expect to see me racing (on track) harder than ever, participating in Nissan events from time-to-time and being the usual PITA.
