2012 to a Close

So as the year comes to a close and we survived the Mayan apocolypse, what was your 2012 me-moment (see what I did there? memorable plus moment)?

Kony 2012..... Fail? I think so.

Apoc370z 12-29-2012 01:52 AM

2012 is not worth mentioning, i still dont have my wheels!

CDepp 12-29-2012 01:55 AM

Purchased my first Z!

Mr&Mrs 12-29-2012 02:19 AM

I had a good time with my dad installing my Zele kit. He has never supported this hobby (or really any hobbies I have) until now. Not sure why the change of heart but I will take it!

Is yours Authentic Zele, or Zele repro? I don't hate against repro's I'm just curious cause I <3 Zele myself. I wants it. :yum:

Fishey 12-29-2012 09:28 AM

2012 has been an interesting year to say the least.

I got a ton of big stories I got a new GF, new Dog, was at empire state building when the shooting happened. The same weekend when I was out of town my winter car burned to the ground. I also started my shop this year so needless to say it will be a memorable year.

The biggest event was coming home to this.

GrooveStyle 12-29-2012 10:30 AM

Got my first Z, too. Pretty much a dream come true. Now, 2013 is for mods! :happydance:

Jasonle 12-29-2012 10:37 AM

Buying, loving, hating and obsessing over my Z.

Hotrodz 12-29-2012 10:46 AM

It has been quite the year, I was offered and excepted a great position with a private non-for-profit organization which allowed me to retire from my job of 23 years working for AZ Game and Fish Department.

I bought my first Z (sports car)! The best part of the purchase was the test drive. The salesman was a twenty something (great from India kid) and only his second day selling cars. He had never driven a stick, but owned a couple of crouch rockets. Anyway, I push the car to just over 115 on the highway and he was more excited than I was...he through his hands into the air and yelled yahoo! My very first 100 plus test drive. ILMFAO:rofl2:

Hard to say 100% but I think the fuel regulator failed and filled the vac lines with fuel. I think the fuel was sparked by the alternator/starter somehow. I was in NY at the time but the person who started it said they never smelled fuel so if it was contained in the vac lines until the rail got pressure maybe. There was litterally nothing left so it is hard to say but it went up fast from what I understand. It was in my shop at the time and he pushed it out and put out a small fire that had started in the shop when he got back to the car the exstinguisher he first grabbed wouldn't put it out and it was a total loss extremely quickly I guess.

I got my first Z. The parts are starting to roll in, 2013 will be the year of the mods

Streetlife 12-29-2012 02:00 PM

2012 has been one of the best years of my life, i was able to get my dream car (i wanted a Z since i was 7 years old) with all the mods i wanted, ordered her right after Nissan headquarters in Tochigi Japan was hit by the tsunami, waited patiently for Nissan to start production on my order, couldn't be happier!:happydance:

TheGreatOne 12-29-2012 05:47 PM

Z wise:

Getting wheels from ISS Forged, first time spending that much for quality wheels and they have really set my car apart

Un-Z related:

Watching my son grow up who is now 12 months old. I spent 5 months home with him on paid parental leave, not many dads get to do that.

2) K&N Short Ram
3) New Vossen
4) Spoiler
5) MOMO Shift knob
6) Dealer replace the soft-top
7) ARK CBE
8) Another set of Vossen
9) GT-R Start button (gift)
10) Hood Struts (not installed)
11) Stainless steel brake line (Not installed)

more coming in 2013... but it's a thread about 2012 so I won't say anything in here... LOL :icon17:

:tiphat:

PapoZalsa 12-30-2012 11:01 AM

The best moment of this year with my Z was going ZDayZ 2012. Got for the Z 20mm V1 spacers all around and Matte Black Vinyl roof top.

Got my M.A.S. and new job.

Other than that half of this year has been a crappy one for me. Hope 2013 is better.

Five months paid parental LOA? Is that Canadian law? Who pays? These types of things intrigue me.

Yup

So basically:

-There is 18 weeks of Maternal leave that only the mother can take
-There are 5 weeks of Paternal leave that only the father can take
-The remaining 32 weeks can be taken by either parent

Usually the mother takes the whole year but in our case my wife got a crazy promotion to run the company so she went back after only 5 months and I took 5 months...could have taken more but went back to work early once we got him in daycare.

The first 18 weeks for the woman is at 75% of your salary, same for the man, then it goes down to 55% for the remaining 24 weeks or something like that...there is a cap of 65K, so if you made like 250K a year...you max out at 65K (not 130)

Its also more specific to Quebec, the rest of Canada doesn't work exactly the same...I think they might get 9 months officially...

2012, Interesting year

-- hail damage, which resulted in the hood being repainted which it needed, all dents are gont
-- getting nissan to replace the front bumper, for the dealer did not ask about not drilling the license plate bracket in.
-- added a siebon carbon nimso type wing
-- clear bra put on hood/fenders/front bumper
-- replaced front and rear sway bars, with nimso sway bars

Other than that enjoyed driving the Z and autocrossing it...

mike@vossen 12-31-2012 09:34 PM

In regards to the Z we supported some events and gave away a set of wheels to ZdayZ at the Tail of the Dragon.

Happy New Year everyone!

PoorMansPorsh 01-01-2013 01:06 AM

2013 is gonna be my Z year...But as far as bizarre goes for 2012, my most memorable moment had to be jumping off a 60ft cliff into a waterfall pool over the summer.

I would like to, (usually do), but I went back to Canada for the holidays and won't be home until the 6th. Will be there in February. See you then!

2012 was the best driving year for me, as I did six track events in the 370. Three of them at Laguna Seca.
