Driving home from down south last night caused me to get irritated with several of my fellow Hwy 99 travelers and not just a little. Although I was cruising in my rented Corolla -- a car that can bore one to tears -- I was keeping up a good pace. The number of drivers who a) tailgate and b) drive with their friggin' driving/fog lights on was astounding.

This gave me an idea -- mainly because I was bored and if you have driven from south of Fresno to Sac on 99, you know what I am talking about. Seriously, it is a wasteland, devoid of any sort of entertainment and heavily populated with racecar-type F-150s and Priuses (Priuii ?) as well as poorly marked construction projects. I digress.

So, instead of mounting a rear fog light (which I have sitting in my garage still), I am thinking this: I am going to mount the brightest, most powerful HID where the rear fog lamp goes. Perhaps cooking a few retinas of the drivers who either think it is cool to run aux lights on the freeway in perfectly clear weather or are handi-tarded enough to not know how to run them off will teach them a lesson.

Just a thought.

Thinking about taking the engine bay strut over to our body guy and having it painted NAG (blackcherry)......he custom painted the splash guards:tup:

His work is really good (IMHO) if anybody would be interested or need something body wise...pm me for his info..

That would look hawt Ms. BC  I want to do my strut tower brace, as well, but I'm not sure the color matched spray paint will survive the heat in the engine bay. Is there a clear finish I can put on it to protect the paint? Or can I have someone make up a color matched hi-temp resistant paint for that purpose?

I saw that he was from DFW  But I'll save the $25 and DIY that $hit thank you very much :icon17: Ms. Pint could probably save the $25, too, though it would cost her a margarita or two ;)

i bought the 12v LED from ebay. kinda like this one:

20pcs Brand New Blue 5050 SMD T5 1 LED Bright Wedge Tail Backup Car Light 12V | eBay

just solder some leads and walla. no resistors to wire up. :)

:iagree: good memory Ms. BC

Ken, is the LED covered at all? Do you have a finished pic of the effect it creates? I assume that your steering column isn't always exposed :icon17:

I like your idea, as I'm not sure how well the Z could pull this one off - it lights up to read "You are tailgating. Please back off." :bowrofl:
