What's up with North Korea?

I was closing down my computer for the night when i saw something about North Korea firing more missiles. Is that guy nuts or what?

BanningZ 07-05-2009 01:49 AM

I know right? He was supposed to launch missles at Hawaii tonight. Is Hawaii still around?

*Looks around* :eekdance:

Reports are that the missiles fell in the vicinity of the Gulf of Japan. This is one of the reasons I got called back here to Japan... I was supposed to be home on the 10th.

Hawaii is still there.

North Korea's weekend missile launches show the communist country is improving its capability and accuracy and are a cause for concern, officials said Sunday.
North Korea launched seven ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast Saturday in a show of military firepower that defied U.N. resolutions and drew international condemnation and concern. It also fired four short-range missiles Thursday believed to be cruise missiles.

Kim Jong Il is a crock. I swear that man just wants to show off his penis and say "oh look I'm above average."
Of course, that's just a horrible metaphor for wanting full national autonomy (which he already has) and wanting to say "oh look West, we're better." In reality he'll continue to launch and test missiles so he has some leverage when the UN finally decides to kick his stupid ***. Unfortunately, no one wants to get their hands dirty, and possibly cause a huge mess (way too many civilians in there).

It's always about the $$$.

GreenJalapeno 07-05-2009 02:30 AM

they should just send in special ops, and quietly give him some poison or something.

Only to raise a political mess. Simple problems like America fixing say, the UK's oven. Good gesture. But now UK doesn't want to appear dependent or feel as if America is superior. So now you went from, hey, a good deed, thanks to: what the f--- I can run my own house you motherf-----.

Honestly, if there were people like Boondock Saints just going in and dealing vigilante justice everywhere, it might be a bit chaotic, but things might be better. It would be hella easy to just put Kim Jong Il as a figurehead with a gun in his back, and some real president spending money on the languishing public instead of spending millions on 50's missile technology that will never catch up with the rest of the world. Hell, I bet once he actually is able to harbor an effective LRBM, the rest of the world will be aiming their satellite mounted directed energy weapons, living in space and on the moon.

The guy is a tool. Their missles suck, they were probably only Scuds anyway. We have the capability and the means to pimp slap their missles out of the sky. But we don't have to because they break up on takeoff. Not worried about, nor was I when I was doing BMD ops off the coast.

They pose a very real threat to our allies in South Korea and Japan. They keep doing dumb stuff, and I would guess that if they ever went for it, they would overrun the capitol of South Korea very quickly.

He is a tool, though.

North Korea is like that child that throws tantrums because it's not getting any attention.

One_Quick_Z 07-05-2009 08:03 AM

The only reason He is spouting off now is because he knows that our current president will do nothing to stop him and that goes with Iran shooting their mouths off... The only reason is because of our current congress and president they wont say or do anything unless we are bombed/attacked again... Which is sad because it shouldnt take that to stand up for freedom!

They will continue to do this stuff because the UN can Sanction them all they want...you can see how well that works because they have no ARMY.

But the thing is though, we need to help those around N.K. since we ally with them. South Korea, Japan, etc. are friendly to us and need to show our support by helping them. Now I am not saying jump into N.K. with a military strike, but we need to help protect our allies.

I am not and have never been for Imperial policing. We are not the world police. Nor do we run the planet. We are a great nation, but we must be responsible and calculating when making crucial decisions such as action against N. Korea.

Preventative strikes have about the same effectiveness as a girl jumping up and down after unprotected sex. It is not appropriate to punch someone in the face because they call you a jerk, it is appropriate to punch someone in the face if they punch you first.

Its not about freedom. Many Europeans look at us and wonder why we allow our government to treat us like captives. Freedom is relative.

I'm just glad we have people like Brian in Japan to help protect our allies, and if sh1t does hit the fan we have a military capable of handling Kim's less than responsible decisions. :twocents:
