GS2. My buddy is selling these:http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...rims-sale.html and I wanted them but can't afford the asking price. And I would still want to know if I could powdercoat part of them in the blue that I want.

Have you seen them personally?

This closeup, for some reason, makes the wheel look somewhat scuffed on the face.

Yup. He says in the listing that they are scuffed but "can be easily fixed". I have no idea how true that is.

So true...never thought I'd pony up that kinda cash for wheels but for some quality forged wheels, can't skimp on the Z...its inevitable :rofl2:

if you want to go lighter than our sport rays you almost have to pay over 3k, but that's acceptable IMO

Well you've seen the damage that I had fixed, right? If its not too bad, it's relatively cheap and easy to get fixed.

He probably has curb-rash the rim before and some shop try to polish it. And that's the problem with chrome lip, it gets scratches easily and almost impossible to remove....

Remember the first set of Vosseen I had on the Z?? I actually curb-rash it in the summer, a long one.... :shakes head:

Brought it to the shop, a good one, once they saw it's chrome, they shake their head and nothing can be done to restore to original.

They explained to me because the chrome is a from a plating process, and there's no way they can chrome-plated the rim again because they are not the factory, and buffing and polish can only remove the scratch and smoothed the surface, but there will be scuff-marks on the area.

Eventually they did it in front of me, smoothed the area, polish the lip, but yes, there's scuff marks.

But the scuff marks is so mild that you can barely see it... :icon17:

Yeah thanks for the info. The wheels he's selling are polished, not chrome. :)

If you bring that wheel to a wheel shop, they will tell you the lip is "chrome"

The OEM sports wheel you have, it's polish

Yup, I might wax the entire car too.

So I'm thinking of wrapping my spouse's gift in a pregnancy test box to freak him out a bit. Just not sure if the in-laws would find it tacky. :p

For reals? I've never heard that! Meh, I could always have em painted or powdercoated as well. Hmmmm, this def gives me food for thought. They'd have to be worked on before I could slip 'em on.

I'm a bit OCD, so I like to have my gear look perfect. Sometimes it creates hardships for me, especially when there's a good deal to be had, ya know?
