Aww, mann... it ain't like that! My Ranger is a 2000 with 145K miles on it. It's in really good shape and was well maintained, but it still qualifies as a $3,000 paid-in-cash beater.

Me, I love the idea of taking my Z on a ski trip, equipped with snow tires and a roof rack. I'm likely going to get a trunk rack for my S2000 for trips when the trunk space is not enough. All my cars see snow. All my cars serve as pickup trucks from time to time... that's how I roll and I love it. :)

Aside from not wanting to drive my Z in PA's winter, mainly to avoid the salt and other crap on the road, being a homeowner who is really into his yard and other home improvements makes something more "utilitarian" than the Z and absolute necessity.
That said, I regularly take my Z to the airport with my luggage and I can fit my light kit and stands in the hatch when everything is arranged correctly. All those years of playing Tetris paid off for something. My beauty dish does have to ride in the passenger seat, though.
Can I live with my Z as a daily driver? Sure! But it's easier to go to Costco in the truck

Good morning brothers and sisters.

It is pouring rain outside today as I sit and contemplate my commute to my laptop sitting on the dining room table. I am hoping the weather improves before my trip to Fresno/Dinuba on Sunday. I am driving the 370 to give her some excercise and also so I can sit in my hotel room and worry about her in the parking lot. Then, it's back home very late Monday and up at 330 Tuesday to fly back to Burbank for a week of fun at a client site.

Have a great day everyone.

I'm leaning towards the full leather. I like the alcantara but I'm unsure of the feel/quality. I dunno...

I'd go full leather -- just never full retard. Don't believe me? Ask Sean Penn, I am Sam -- 2001. He went full retard, came back empty-handed.

As much as I like the Alcantara I would go with the full leather, just think it would hold up better over time

I'm all about having fun with my cars. I dream of driving very long distances in random, quirky cars. Hell, I almost flew to Portland back in 2010 to drive a 1995 Volvo 850 T5-R 2800 miles back to DC. I wish I did. That would have been awesome.

m4a1mustang 11-30-2012 09:20 AM

And when I bought my S2000 I thought it'd be fun to run out of fuel in the streets of Chester, PA. With the top down. In the middle of winter.

That was fun.

From Urban Dictionary:

Chester, PA

1.) Just a bit south of Philadelphia on your map of the USA - The only place on earth where you can get jumped, stabbed, robbed, shot, and then robbed again all within the span of 2 minutes. Also, the first place in the world that hoodlums would hold people up at gunpoint over a pair of hot kicks

I agree. In 1980, I drove my 1975 Celica from Annandale, VA to Orlando then to San Diego then to Eureka, back to San Diego and then back to Annandale.

I guess I did not get enough of that so in 1981, my brother drove my Celica and I took the 1967 Datsun roadster from VA back to San Diego. I only had two roadside repairs in the Datsun -- voltage regulator replacement in Roanoke and a slave cylinder replacement in South El Paso in 100 degree weather in a Church's Fried Chicken parking lot.

It adds a bit of excitement when part of the adventure is wondering if the car is going to continue running.

m4a1mustang 11-30-2012 09:27 AM

I want to take the S2K on a long road trip. Preferably one that requires I have a trunk rack on it with additional luggage.

I would have said the same thing. I had suede seat covers once - literally one 15 minute drive is all it took before I took them out and gave them to a friend. :shakes head:

I'm with you, Steve. I really enjoy doing things that most people would never think to do in a Z. And I enjoy the reactions of people who think it's blasphemous

:icon18: Almost every trip in Texas is a long road trip. I've put over 400 miles on the Z in a single day on several occasions for work. And I got a nice phat mileage reimbursement check each time
