In Shreveport LA for a week, whats there to do here?

As the title says I am down in Shreveport Louisiana for a week for work. I have alot of sitting around and waiting to do during this week so I was curious what there is to do here to waste time. Figured it wouldn't hurt to start a thread to see if there are any other 370 members from around here.

Regarding things to do: how do you feel about gambling?

I live in Shreveport. What's bringing you down (I know you said work, but what business are you in)?

I noticed there is alot of Casino's and Gambling billboards down this way.

I am here to create a set of blue prints for one of the drilling rigs we have down here. Its currently drilling right on the LA TX boarder and I have to wait for the rig to move to do any real work. So at the least I got 2 days of waiting around.

Gotta say I do love the weather, haha.

I'll trade you for some cooler weather. We had a spell two weeks ago where temperatures were in the 40s F. I loved it. Supposedly it's supposed to drop down to a high in the 50s tomorrow.

Where are you staying, & how long are you here?

The Robinson Film Center is my favorite place in town. Their restaurant, Abby Singer's Bistro, is awesome.

Nope. That starts in February & goes through June.

The general rule-of-thumb is "Don't eat crawfish in months with a 'U' in the name," though a little early in February & late in June is OK.

Basically, it coincides with the Lent season.

Haha the morning I left alberta it was about 15F, much to cold to enjoy the car. The weather down here today is perfect, I am not a fan of the hot weather either I was here in mid September and 85-88 was a bit to hot for me (working outdoors in coveralls that is).

I am staying at the Holiday Inn at 8751 Park Plaza Drive till Wednesday at the earliest, which means missing all the Halloween parties that I had made plans to go to. I guess I will have to wait a year to see all the slutty Halloween costumes. haha. I already have a trip planned to go get me some Krispy Kreme doughnuts, sooo good and we dont have those up north anymore.

I will definitively look into the suggestions you guys gave me, I also thought about going to see the military museum that they have here.

I wish we had an autocross this Sunday. If you get extended through next weekend, you're welcome to co-drive my car.

By the way, if you see a red Evo X with name stickers on the rear windows, honk/ say hello as it's me. I don't drive it much, but you never know.

Also I find it comical how different your Discovery channel programming is. Its typically shows about

Guns
Guns
Guns
Texas Cars
Guns
Gold
Gold
Cars
Guns

Haha I took a liking to Sons of Guns while I been down here. We do have it up north, just not nearly as much.

I didn't know Discovery Channel did regional programming. I haven't watched it in years. I like nature shows (think Planet Earth) & am tired of every 'educational' show being about people doing stuff. Even Shark Week has gone from sharks in the wild to people surviving shark attacks.

 I definitely wouldn't want to miss that!

Discovery channel must do that, although to be fair usually I am working Mondays through Fridays not sitting in a hotel room.
