Appreciate DVD formatting help.....

I am a rookie when it comes to my computer, and am probably over my head trying to convert some old slides into a DVD that I could play on my plasma TV. I have a Toshiba Satellite model A305-S6843, Windows Vista. I have been able to burn the slides onto the DVD, but the DVD will only play on my computer, and not on my plasma. I do not seem to be able to finalize the disc correctly.

Do you have updated Divx or Xvid codecs installed? I'm assuming these are movies from torrents. Could be the problem. I tried to watch Terminator Salvation a while back and couldn't get it to play on anything including the PS3 which plays everything.

Also Windows DVD maker sucks through Vista.

I believe all I have is the Windows Vista DVD software that came with the computer. When it asks for a formatting option, I choose "mastered", which supposedly allows the DVD to play on other computers, DVD players etc., but it doesn't seem to work as it only plays on the Toshiba computer it was burned on.

I have a Toshiba Satellite as well. Mine is a A135-S2386. I don't think its a Toshiba thing. Vista just comes with crummy Burning software.

Get Nero Burning Rom.
