I was looking into it but what i read made me not to buy one. This was last year and hopefully they might of solved their issues.

Please let me know how it works out for you. I'm really curious.

Reviews as of this year are good thus far. Lock and load channel made a pretty nice piece on the rifle. I'm doing further research as we speak and I'm strongly considering just getting the upper. An upper can be had for about $1000 and the other $900 is the lower, magpuls parts and the FN barrel? The FN barrel is the only thing worth some money to me. I can just put the upper on my stag lower but I'd rather have a second lower. QUALITY Lowers are extremely scarce right now though

I can imagine that last year there were issues. It was introduced in the 2011 shot show and it's 70% proprietary parts. I hope customer service is better than what you've heard?
Main reason why I want this particular AR is that it's design truly addresses every weakness of the "Piston AR".
But damn, the frenzy is on... Most sites I go into, they are out of 90% of the good AR's

I did however find an SR556. Anyone have experience with the Ruger SR556? I hear not very accurate compared to other platforms but still very solid.

It's a notoriously bad gun, even for a Bushmaster.

Interesting article I found tonight...

Obama backs new assault weapons ban

Ordered some 9mm to stock up on. Couldn't find any Gold Dots at my usual place so I got some HST instead. I should be fine.

Of course he does. Things are going to get interesting for us over the next few months.

Because of the Republican house we're probably fairly safe in that they won't allow an AWB to pass. I'm more concerned about what the White House will do administratively. How much can they get away with via executive order? Could the EPA hit us with lead ammo regulation? Who knows.

I hope you are right about the Republican house. The last time there was legislation rushed through due to reacting with emotion we ended up with the patriot act.

I have a relatively higher opinion of Bushmasters, but I wouldn't buy one that wasn't manufactured in Windham, Maine and I would especially stay away from the carbon lowers.

If you want to go with the standard in ARs, I would also recommend Colt.

The bright side is that whatever he does with his royal decrees the next president can undo them. Over the last few days I can't believe the stupidity and lack of logical thinking I have heard.

Hey people...the term "assault weapon" is a term made up by politicians. Yes an "assault rifle" is a class of rifle.

So I've been drooling over the H&K 417 for awhile and I think I am about to break a build something like it. I have just heard a problem people seem to run into is feeding 7.62 rounds. Any thoughts?

Robert_K 12-19-2012 01:30 AM

I have plenty of 9mm, .40s&w, .45acp and 12 gauge. However I did just order 600rd of .223 Hornady & 400 of PMC.

i decided to go with S&W M&P sport AR-15.. it had good reviews and shoots both the .223 and the 5.56 nato... just waiting for cabelas to have them back in stock.. almost every gun store i called was out of stok of AR'S and the ones they had left were over $2000. so i hope cabelas gets some in before this ban happens...

Good luck! With the recent events, ARs and ammo is now impossible to find. And prices will just continue to rise. This is why I just ordered my RRA. 90-120 wait but at least I know I have one ordered for me.

MacCool 12-19-2012 07:53 AM

In this environment, the consumer-grade ARs like the S&W's, Bushmasters, and RRA's are going to be hard or impossible to find.

I checked budsgunshop last night and they were literally out of every S&W AR

We're going to get our first idea of what they plan on shoving down our throats at 11:45 AM.
