Morning, Nis.

Onzedge, I think that grand-baby's already got you wrapped around her tiny little finger. Just as long as she's driven around on Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

If we are going to walk down memory lane, here's my pathetic story:

I've been working since age 15. Always paid for my cars, insurance, gas and maintenance.

Put myself through college. Graduated, got a job, got married at 23 and bought a house. Interest rates at the time (1982) were 20.1%, assuming you could even get a loan. We skipped a fancy wedding and used the money from the wife's parents ($10,000) for a down payment.

Saved, saved, saved and never lived extravagantly. No consumer debt, and tried to pay cash for cars when we could. Never refinanced the house to buy consumer goods or go on vacation.

MAYBE one day I'll get to retire, but that remains to be seen. I doubt I'll ever collect a dime of social security.

Luckily, my son is on a full academic scholarship at Texas A&M (and is in the Corps of Cadets) and is studying Petroleum Engineering. That break is worth at least $150k!

I think you are doing okay ms. pint. The very fact you are concerned about this is good. Just keep plowing away and it will pay off like mr. fire said.

damn a bunch of old heads in here... but good story man!

Morning All :hello:

On the subject of working hard To stay out of debt, I agree. Big mistake especially for people of my age group (20-30) is getting in over their head. Its not enough To just be able to meet your monthly payments, you Should also be able to cover any unforeseen expenses That were not part of Your plan/budget. Usually if you work hard at being a smart spender/loanee . By the time your 30/35 you will be in great shape.

See this is why I kick myself everyday. When I was younger I had a full scholarship to college and I hated school so much I decided to take a break. I didn't realize that I would lose the scholarship. So now here I am, 10 years and multiple setbacks later, still trying to make it. Every time I start getting ahead and thinking I'll have time and money for school, something happens and we're screwed again lol. Things are starting to look up though, my wife has an amazing job and I'm happy where I'm at, now we just have to spend and plan carefully :)
