G'mornin everyone! Today is going to suck for me. I went to a Z brothers house an hour and 10 minutes away to have a Resident Evil marathon to refresh ourselves so that we would be ready when the new one comes out. We finally got done at around 1:30am, then I headed home and tried (successfully) to not fall asleep at the wheel. Went to sleep at 3am, got up for work at 7am this morning. FML.
On a side note, I love the winter time here in Florida because it's never actually winter, just a brisk fall. I love being able to bust out all my coats and jackets for a month, and The Mistress loves the cold weather, she's always a bit peppier  Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff |

I drove the 370 to the post office and then back home. I am "working" remotely today -- two major documents are not going to write themselves, dammit.

I left the Z home today, and it will remain home for a while. I injured my lower back while playing tennis on Wednesday. I abruptly changed directions in order to hit a ball that my opponent hit behind me and tweaked my back. My back injury hurts when I get in and out of the Z so it's the van for me for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, I'll be back on the court and in my Z in a week.
With that said, my opponent and I split sets, but we decided that the time was too late to play a 3rd ... 10:10 pm. Both of us were approaching our bed times. After being up 5-2 in the first set, I lost it 7-5. However, I got up 5-2 again in the second set, and was able to close it out 6-2. It's been a long time since I was up 5-2 in a set, and lost it. I wasn't pleased. :shakes head: In the second set, I said to myself, "Not this time!" |

Must be a tough lost on the first set with giving away the last 5 games in a row... but seems you pick up your game quickly on the 2nd and finished it 6-2.. less than 35 mins I guess... ;) I hope I can go back to the court in about 2 to 3 weeks... have not been able to play for almost 10 weeks now.... my shoulder still hurts and feel tight... |
:ugh: I wanna motor the Zed fast

Actually, pressure hurts so I'm not sure that I would prefer a massage. It's a good thing that I finished my 3.5-Level Club Championship Tournament BEFORE this injury. That would have been a bummer to not be able to finish. I reached the championship and WON! :happydance: However, my win may mean that I have to move up to 4.0. My club manager said that I was winning too easily. I received a bye in the first round. Then, I won my second round match by a score of 6-1, 6-0. I won my third round match by a score of 6-3, 6-1. I won my 4th round match by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Finally, I won my Finals match by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Actually, my toughest match was the 4th round semi-final match. Although I appeared to have won easily ... 6-2, 6-2 ... that was a real battle. It took about 2-1/2 hours to complete. I was up a set and 5-1, and I put sports cream on my thighs because I felt cramps coming on. That was a BIG mistake. While walking to the baseline, my thighs began to lock up! I'm like, :wtf: The cream is supposed to HELP ... NOT HURT!!! I could barely walk! Fortunately, my opponent graciously gave me some time to stretch and recover ... about 3 to 5 minutes. However, I resumed play, knowing that my legs were not fully functional. I was hobbling around the court. It was pathetic. :shakes head: Despite that, I took him to several deuces on his serve. I desperately wanted to finish the match before I would have to default or go to a 3rd set, GOD FORBID! I had a couple of match points, but couldn't finish him off. :shakes head: However, during the game, I thought that even if I lost it, I would have time to sit for a while on the change-over to rub my thighs. During the next game, I was serving for the match, and my legs felt better ... good enough to move around the court a bit. However, I knew that if I over did the running, they might lock up again. I tried to conserve my movements, and hit strong efficient shots that would put my opponent on the defensive; I couldn't afford to play long drawn out points. Fortunately, I was able to close the game out and the match. That was a really close call! My Finals match was downright easy in comparison -- no cramping there. I was also careful to come even better prepared next time in terms of what I ate before the match, and what I drank and ate during the match so that I could support my muscle function. I found myself up a set and 3-0 thinking that this is going to be over quickly. The next thing that I knew, the score was 4-3! I said to myself, it's time to finish this! I closed the set out, and the match, by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Anyway, I'm glad that I didn't get this kind of injury during the tournament. Hey, take your time with getting back on the court. I recall that I put my tennis racquet down for 8 months because of a wrist injury! Contact with the ball sent an excruciating pain through my wrist. I couldn't bear it. I received therapy and everything. After returning to tennis, I wore wrist support for a while ... about a year. Then, I forgot it one day and was playing without it, and realized in the middle of the match that I didn't have it on. I said to myself, "I guess that I don't need it!" That's when I stopped wearing it. However, I try to stretch and work my wrist before and during play to avoid injury. |

If you are playing the 4.0 next season, yup, the whole story will be different especially tactics while and how 4.0 keep the ball in play and have the point setup. I don't know about the effectiveness of your 2nd serve but it will be as important as a life saver, make sure it has a good kick and placement. Funny thing is sometimes the more you want to finish the point/game, the harder you find it is, all about mental, LOL. My shoulder problem has been an ongoing thing for years but it was ok until the passed Winter season when I play seriously and wanted to prepare the Summer season, I didn't have enough rest in between and the flat serve was just too much load to the shoulder.... Worst time I can't make a forehand backswing, don't even think about hitting a ball.... :ugh2: Winter season is coming up so I will have to have myself ready by Oct... trying.... :eekdance: |
