My Cali trip

first of all, this was my first time to cali (properly...i was really young before). All i have to say is that this state is AWESOME!!! besides the fact that everyone drives like its GT3 racing, some of the roads (like PCH and topanga and the 101) are amazing to drive on. in FL, we dont have too much scenery other than ocean and green. our tallest "mountains" are the landfills LOL. with that said, the mountains and valleys and vineyards were really beautiful. i did see a couple of 350s on the road (along with many exotics), but no 370s. i dont know how some of you guys do it with such steep inclines on alot of these roads. I know im generalizing the whole state based on my experiences in LA, but even i bottomed out on my rentacar pontiac.

Besides everything staying open till all hours of the night, some of my favorite things were:

-pismo beach--we drove almost 3 and a half hours (from the OC) to get here. It was a blast. i've grown up riding dirtbikes and quads, so this fit the bill. i didnt think the park was going to be that big, and those dunes are amazing! great experience overall.
-jack in the box--WHY DOES FLORIDA NOT HAVE THIS PLACE
-animal fries from In and Out--enough said
-friendly people--hell i made friends with ppl sitting in traffic, at clubs, on the street, at everywhere.
-Bossanova or whatever its called. great cookies
-Bj's--also great something. its like a cookie pizza

as im noticing...most of my likes are the food...hmmmmm. well i ate alot this trip.

I also stopped by Santa Barbara on the way up to Pismo Beach to check out that Polo club. its a beautiful club just seconds from the water. I will be back!

anyway, I had a great experience and luckily i got to visit almost everywhere (hollywood, playboy mansion--kinda (a rock told me to leave), OC, the valley, pismo, SB, Vegas (ya i know thats not in Cali)....
So, if it werent for ur earthquakes and lame emission laws, i would definitely consider moving there.

great state...cheers:tup:

cali is where its at man....

ssqpolo 06-23-2009 05:12 PM

ya man. i wanted to stop by stillen, but i didnt get a chance! all the performance places are there.

BanningZ 06-23-2009 05:31 PM

next time travel up North a bit and get some coffee and the country's best micro brewed beer. :D

Crash 06-23-2009 05:36 PM

HAHA!!! L.A. has its moments.

I noticed you guys don't have Jack in the Box. They have the best spicy chicken.

You get used to the inclines and hills quickly. I drive manuals, and the hills are only a pain in the rain because of traction and people getting up REALLY close to your bumper behind you. In downtown LA there's a LOT more hills and stuff.

Did you happen to drive through Laural Canyon or any of the Hollywood Hills? Those are fun when there's no traffic. :D

And the cookie pizza, I think you're talking about a Kazookie!? The cookie with ice cream on it?

dszombiex 06-23-2009 05:41 PM

You're talking about the Pizookie.

This state is kinda ok until you have to live here and pay all the random taxes, and deal with the cost of living. Then its not so much fun anymore.

Crash 06-23-2009 05:50 PM

PIZOOKIE!!! That's it. LOL!

I will gladly pay it and some more to live in this state... seriously - what dont you have here? desert / snow / rain / mountains / rivers / valleys / plains / beaches / EVERYTHING ... I would never leave cali- I will always live here... I dont care if my car is a few tenths less in the qtr mile and it costs me a little more to live than it does elsewhere...

Don't leave out the on going trouble with street gangs , murder, shootings, home invasions, drive by shootings!

zZSportZz 06-24-2009 10:53 AM

When I think of Cali...i think of porn. Not sure why....

Crash 06-25-2009 02:21 AM

^^^ Yeah. Me neither. Something about California and porn... I just can't put my finger in it. I don't know. It's on the tip of my... uh... tongue. LOL

Well said, I have friends who live all around the country, and I have visited them. From Utah to Florida, to Texas.

I wouldn't trade Cali for anything. Ill take the good with the bad. Much more upside.

Kyle@STILLEN 06-25-2009 02:50 PM

Cali is definitely a great place to live. I wish you could have made it down to the shop. Maybe next time?

By the way...How in the world can you put Jack in the Box above In N Out on your list? In N Out is 100 times better than Jack in the Box.

Tell me about it. My next assignment is in Oklahoma so I won't be having In'N'Out for awhile. I've eaten there at least bi-weekly for the last, I dunno, 8 years probably. I think I'm going to have hardcore withdrawals.
