The main thing people are complaining about is the new Metro (or whatever they are going to officially call it) UI, with all the tiles like Windows Phone. It will run just like Windows 7 but with newer features build primarily for touch devices.

i'm wondering if this is going to be another vista tho...

After having watched a few people using windows phones, I gotta say, I'm not impressed, or feeling the need to switch. I don't get too deep into the OS or coding/programing level so 7 seems fine to me...? :ugh2:

No, the reason for the Vista fiasco was they allowed manufactures to sell computers with it installed with worth specs than Windows XP systems. They fixed that with W7 and forcing them they must sell a certain minimum or not be allowed to purchase the license.

Windows Phone is still in its early stages since the overhaul a couple years ago. Think of iOS almost 5 years ago or Android 3 years ago. Microsoft is moving quickly and will probably create a 3 way tie with Apple & Google for the mobile market, but not for a couple more years.

anyone played around with window 8 yet? i'm wondering if it's going to be worth the upgrade? they've recently announced that you can upgrade from XP, Vista or 7 to 8 for $39.99 until the end of january. might be a good idea for that cheap, but i don't want to do it if everyone hates it...

from what I have seen it's comparable to the upgrade to windows 7 from Vista

He is saying it will be like going from Vista to W7.
Also, the Metro UI is just an overlay, once you get behind it the system has normal features you are use to. Though I would suggest getting use to the new UI, it is here to stay for a long long long time.

I'm waiting to see the iPhone5 when it's released, if it's as good as they claim it will be, I'll prolly switch over to it. I like my Nexus, but I don't know exactly when, but after I updated something on it, the keyboard has been ridiculously slow and can't keep up with my typing. So usually I just go ahead and type out everything I want to say, then about 4-5 seconds later it actually goes through and processes it all... I don't know why it's doing this. It's not tied to any one app.

How's things Father Patrick, any more thought on matters we've discussed?

Well iOS 6 is already out/known what we will get so read up on that.
Per the hardware of the phone:
Longer screen probably not any wider
Different resolution
NFC
LTE
New connection (no more fat 30 pin connection)
Upgraded camera/CPU/GPU probably

Longer screen probably not any wider - This is good, I like the iPhone 4's size, easy to hold.
Different resolution - I'm assuming higher, so sharper images?
NFC -
LTE - Still locked to ATT for first year, or coming to Verizon too at unveil?
New connection (no more fat 30 pin connection) - So now we'll have to buy all new car/comp connections? :shakes head:
Upgraded camera/CPU/GPU probably - Is a plus...

True but an OS without hardware doesn't do me much good... I learn the software as I go.
