parallel parking
Anyone else not parallel park their z? I used to parallel park my 350z all the time and my wheels were completely scratched. I drive my z every day but one thing I don't do is parallel park. This kind of prevents me from going to certain places that only have street parking.
So who else doesn't risk parallel parking? |
I try to slide in. Yea I wouldn't risk it unless the spot is wide. That's where the problem usually come into play.
|
There's only one parking lot in town with parallel parking i can think of, so it's a non-issue for me..

I do parallel park, if you have problem seeing the curb, adjust the passenger side mirror downward so you can see the curb, then park.

Parallel parking is not easy, and that's one of the reason I want to master it, usually I can complete it in less than 3 turns...
Gotta capable to master this, imagine yourself telling people you drive a sports car and don't know how to parallel park??? :ugh2: Imagine you have a nice chic in your Z and you can't park?? :ugh2: Step Up Bros!!!! :icon17: |
Yeah I do it. I just make sure I'm at least 1.5' from the curb. I also take my time, traffic can wait. lol

The z was always a dream to parallel park IMO. Very short and easy to squeeze into a spot. This ******* mustang on the other hand:shakes head: |
I just put the mirror down and I'm set to go.

i only have the miror set up to park, lol no joke

I do have my mirrors pointed down but I usually park at night with little or no street lighting. I do agree that girls get me to drive to areas where I normally avoid. But yeah parallel parking isn't something I do anymore.

not my Z, but i parallel park my G with SSR's almost on a daily basis when picking up my kids from daycare. curb side parking, zero curb rash.
the trick is to go to an empty parking lot, use the parking lines as a curb, and mark in your head where on the hoodline (or whereever) the line comes up to when you are about 3" from the line. for forward/aft distance, unless you have a rearview camera, use the reflection of your car on the store/restaurant/school window. |
I've 2 hours per Saturday playing with cones (only took 3 saturdays) to learn to feel where exactly is your car's dimensions. After that, I could park within 1 inch from the curb without a curb rash.
