:eekdance:

it debuted in the Asus Transformer Prime a month or so ago and has been getting rave reviews (both the chipset and the tablet itself). ipad3's tooting it's own horn for their new A5x processor, the tegra3 smokes it in every measurable way that i've seen so far and it was out first... wtf slapple :wtf:

The only Galaxy S2 currently updatable to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is the international version (GT-i9100) because it gets the updates directly from Samsung.

EVENTUALLY, other Galaxy S2 models like the AT&T branded SGH-i777 and SGH-i727 (Skyrocket) and the T-Mobile branded SGH-T989 will get the update to ICS but it is not known when exactly this will happen. These phones get the updates from the carrier and not directly from Samsung. It is up to them. It could take a long time.

The older and more outdated a phone gets, the longer it takes to receive that Android updates. You could always root your phone and install a copy of the new Android OS yourself a lot sooner whenever it becomes available.

ah, then yea OP, you should probably wait. i'm assuming the S3 will have android 4.0 and especially if it has the new quad core chipset, it will definitely be worth the delay

Having the S2 myself, I may be biased, but you will not loose anything by buying it. Its a very very good phone. Speed, quality, feel, built solid, yet tall large screen, very good for browising. The battery life surprisingly lasts really long, and I usually am on my phone anywhere from 10-15 hours a day. calling, texting, e-mailing, internet browising, music, and still had about 1/4 battery when I get home. Pretty nice.

Looks like the Galaxy S3 will be officially revealed on May 3rd! :excited:

Hey bud, I am using SII also. Love it!!:tup:

Just get and iPhone, and be happy with that..lol

alcheng 04-18-2012 01:24 AM

OP, I am using an international version of SII and have recently upgraded to ICS.

To be honest, if you are not a phone crazy, the SII is very much good enough. And if you compare the Nexus and the SII, I will strongly suggest you the SII!!

The dude work next door to me has recently got the Nexus, it has a bigger display, that's it, oh... it comes with lagging too. :ugh2:

One time I put his phone side-by-side with the SII and right away I can see the SII display is much brighter and white color is displayed in white. The SII actually does have a better hardware display screen than the Nexus.

Web page loading is about the same but I'll say the SII is a bit faster, both on same network, but page scrolling with the Nexus is laaaaaggggggginnnnnnggggg.... :eekdance: :eekdance:

There was quite some silent from that dude after we did the camparo.... :ugh2:

Consider his phone is new and have limited apps preload and mine is 8 months with lots of preload apps.... you know what I mean... ;)

About the ICS OS, it adds some fancy gesture, like face unlock(which I'll never use), new keyboard(which you have to get used to), slightly better battery performance and WiFi is a tad better. Does it make the phone run quicker?? Not really... but it a no-harm upgrade. :icon17:

As I said, if you are looking for a phone for e-mail, internet broswing, words and stuffs like that, the SII is very much good enough, cos this is what I mainly use my phone for, I don't really play games with it.

For the SIII, it says the launch day is in May, but it's not firm yet, and even if it really launches in May(which I highly doubt), it will be in Europe, then Asia, then it will take at least another 3-5 months to come to N.A. carrier, because each carrier will have to make their own OS for the phone before they launch it, so you will have to wait til at least Aug or further.

I will not bother to go for the Nexus, if you are looking at phones on the current market, then I will strongly suggest the SII, either upgrade to ICS or not, this phone is more than everything. The camera is extremely good too, I never have to use flash and the pictures come out nicely.

Since the first generation of Palm-Phone, this is my 8th smartphone, I still have my HTC Touch HD and HDII in my draw, LOL.

If you ask "Should I wait for the SIII?", I will say the SIII does worth to wait for because it's a freaking good phone, the quad-core 1.5Ghz(maybe 1.8Ghz) processor with the 16G RAM and SD slot support up to another 32G, plus the 12MP camera, app 312ppi display and Ver.4 bluetooth..... To be honest, I am eyeing this phone for myself too

Sorry for the long post but I hope this is helpful for you.

cheers

Just wanting some opinions. I know the S3 is said to be coming out this summer, but idk if I should wait. I still have a crappy basic phone with no data plan. I have never had a smart phone and think it's time to get one.

I have At&t and will probably stick with them. It looks like the best 4G phone they have currently is the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, which seems like a pretty solid phone.

I know the S3 will have quad-processors, but honestly I can't think of any reason why I would need that. It's not like I will be wanting to play Crysis 2 on my phone or anything. And as for as the OS, I know the S3 will come with the new ice cream sandwhich OS, but I assume that the S2 can be updated with the new OS anyway.

So should I sign a new contract today and get the S2 Skyrocket or is it worth it to wait a couple more months for the S3? Please help me decide!

S3 will be out soon, wait for it.

I don't know what's wrong with your friends Nexus but mine does not lag.

b1adesofcha0s 04-18-2012 11:19 AM

It's been confirmed to be revealed on May 3, but not sure about launch date but shouldn't be too far after. Rumor is that it's supposed to have a simultaneous launch worldwide and avoid the delayed US launch like with the SII.

I don't know but his was very clean with little apps.

But the difference between both displays are obvious.
