Should This Kid Have Lost His Driver’s License For Life?

Should This Kid Have Lost His Driver's License For Life?

Reviewing the facts of the case, Topa seems like the best candidate — if there is such a thing — for a lifetime ban. The teen nearly killed himself and three of his passengers last October. Top was street racing while drunk when he tried to pass another car and hit a tree instead. One of the passengers went into a coma but survived.

Topa is also a repeat offender, having had his license revoked twice before — in less than two years of driving.

Definitely think your license should be gone for life.

Repeat offender twice already, nearly killing numerous people.... YES. 3 strikes on this kid and he would probably do it again. Let him appeal it in 10-15 years.

Anyone who thinks it's a little harsh..... imagine if he did kill people, let alone someone you know....or a family member. You wouldn't think it was too harsh then.

The problem is, whether or not his license is revoked, he will do it again, with or without a license.

i'd say suspended till 25 would be reasonalble, if it happends again, it's gone for 15yrs.
We all know he's going to drive anyway, or go out of state to get it there.

Speedy 03-06-2012 04:20 PM

Suspended till 35.

If he's caught driving a car again before then prison.

Caught street racing drunk again....death penalty.

Thechidz 03-06-2012 04:23 PM

definitely no driving privileges for his own good and the good of others. With the severity of his offenses he should probably be on some kind of electronic mnitoring (ankle bracelet?) thing for a few years

370ZilverZ 03-06-2012 04:51 PM

The state should give him a job going out with the county coroner and recover auto accident bodies when a death occurs from DUI or/and racing until he is 21 and let the coroner give input at that time if they think he might have learned to respect the priveledge of driving to a panel.

slo 03-06-2012 05:12 PM

^^ that's actually a good idea along with a life long drivers license suspension. with a chance to appeal in ten years with recommendations from the coroner.

eddieconfetti 03-06-2012 07:41 PM

all i could say is yes. and doesnt rhode island have a good public transportation system??? we all been his age and done some stupid stuff, but to repeat continously??

Isamu 03-06-2012 07:42 PM

He belongs in jail. License be-dammed!

canes7 03-07-2012 07:24 AM

Jail for 1 year. License retuned at 21. Not allowed to drink until 25. next offense gone for life.

It's nearly necessary to drive to have a job these days. Keeping him from driving vastly increases his chances of ending up on government assistance. We do not need any more people on government assistance for sure. So punish now, give a chance when adulthood comes about then promise to punish more should he F up again.

He's a dummy, he deserves to lose his license.
