Am I the only one?

....that takes random drives early in the morning?

I constantly wake up at 4am, 4:30ish and sporting full on wood and I try getting the gf to get in the mood and she won't do anything because our walls are paper thin and our room mate hears every fart.

So I find myself 45min from home right now at Fort Myers Beach McDonalds eating my steak egg cheese bagel and a Starbucks drink I picked up on the way.

Does anyone take random spur of the moment drives?

m4a1mustang 02-04-2012 07:27 AM

I used to do that when I was younger, but now if I ever have moments like that I just work. So I will read through annual or quarterly reports and if I'm really feeling frisky I'll write some research notes. I am pretty much wired to work 24/7. :icon14:

When I decided to become a landlord I never thought my tenants would be this needy. :icon18:

wheee! 02-04-2012 07:36 AM

But back on topic, yes, I have been known to slip away for a late night/early morning ride on occasion too. I like driving at twilight for some reason.... especially thru the mountains.

Footloose301 02-04-2012 07:45 AM

I wish I had mountains here. Nothing but old farts at McDonalds and the most impressive thing I saw on my 3 hour trip around town this morning was a gorgeous RX-7 running a red light. He pulled up to a red light to make a left and sat there for a solid minute and nobody coming in the opposite direction and he went and made his left lol.

And heres a handful of pics I took around 6am right before the Sanibel bridge and their $6 toll I was not going to pay haha

Right about now I would trade my snow covered mountains for some sunshine and sand!!! lol

m4a1mustang 02-04-2012 07:49 AM

When it warms up I'll probably start driving out to the mountains in time for sunrise.

Footloose301 02-04-2012 07:49 AM

^Nice "location" Wheee haha

I used to live in NY and I actually miss the snow.

m4a1mustang 02-04-2012 07:50 AM

Though if it snows soon I might drive up to the mountains. :icon17:

Alchemy 02-04-2012 07:58 AM

Yeah, I go out on random drives when Im bored. Def used to do it more when I was younger and had my 300zx though. I dont do it as often mostly due to gas prices. Just a short spirited drive can suck up A LOT of gas. But anyway I do enjoy random drives to nowhere just for the sake of being in my Z, its my happy place :)

GaleForce 02-04-2012 08:36 AM

My buddy always says to his wife... "You don't have to be awake, you just have to be there". Just something for you to think about the next time you wake up early....

Nice photos by the way.

nmjaxx9 02-04-2012 08:46 AM

Nice pics footloose

And that sucks about your apartment, maybe you can convince your GF to sleep in the Z with you that way when you wake up you can drive her to an undisclosed locattion and take care of that wood. :bowrofl:

We, my wife and I, are very prone to impromptu trips. Not usually at 4am, but we will wake up, pick a direction, and just head out for the day. Nothing better than spending some quality time with my 2 girls!

TreeSemdyZee 02-04-2012 09:31 AM

I do it all of the time at all hours (except early in the morning. I am not a morning person). I get antsy and I REALLY love to drive my car. Helps life's annoyances kind of fade away.

No way are you the only one. If you wait until the bicyclists are up and awake, you are stuck.

Sometimes I'll get inspiration to go drive. I enjoy doing it after Midnight in the dark. Cool air w/ the windows down...:driving:

KingZee 02-04-2012 01:12 PM

Early morning canyon runs when it's just you and the road...nothing better

My Z is like a Gremlin, I dont feed it after midnight, or even close. Crusing at night around me means deer hood ornament.

Footloose301 02-05-2012 06:09 AM

I love driving my car. Feels so great running around with the windows down and it's a huge stress reliever.

Thanks guys. Thought I was just crazy.

i did alot when i was younger, now not as much, but i still do from time to time, in the summer that is. I get to drive my car for work, so i'm normally out for a drive with it anyway...

SgtGoldy 02-14-2012 09:13 AM

I guess I'll add to this: i would if I had a lot of money to put twords gas. Unfortunately I make sure I only spend X amount of dollars a week on gas, so I conserve :)

Isamu 02-14-2012 02:58 PM

I was driving the Perimeter road around our flight line.. and the sun was just coming up, and man o' man it was a site... and wished I could bring my Z...

Your not the only one. I do this 5 days out of the week... randomly wake up, go drive for 2 hours.... then somehow end up at work. :shakes head:
