Favorite beers

Ok, the title says it all. What's your favorite beer?

I am partial to ales. Being of English heritage, it's a given. My favorite is a nice cask bitter ale. On tap, of course. Bottled is ok, but draught is much better. But also being located in Red-Neck country, there are challenges to getting your favorite brew. Here, lagers are the most popular. They're ok in the hot months when you're thirsty. But to me, they're too much like pop (soda for you Americans).

Tonight, it's Marstens Old Empire light ale. Served just slightly cooler than room temperature to bring out the bitter finish.

Depending on the weather, location and food, I go between: Pacifico, Heineken and Guinness Draught.

And it's never a bad time for a Shiner.

My latest fave is Flenburger Dunkel.

As to a type of beer, I like belgian whites and pale ales.

Oh, and stout or lambic for "dessert".

N8GTOL 11-10-2011 09:35 PM

Porters, Stouts, and brown ales...the darker the better!

Nissanboy 11-10-2011 09:36 PM

Shiner Bock!

desertzrat 11-10-2011 09:59 PM

Red Hook, Odell and Santa Fe Ales

GaleForce 11-10-2011 10:23 PM

I'm a stout/dark beer kind of guy myself but I'm all about trying different beers of all flavours. Having said that I did just enjoy some Innis & Gunn. Other than that I've been on a local brew kick lately... love supporting the local microbrews.

I'm allergic to alcohol. Amongst the reactions I get, my asthma acts up...especially bad with beers and wine (I can take hard liquor better). Of beers, I react less with Kilkenny Irish cream ale and Guinness. Go figure.

dAvenue 11-11-2011 02:56 AM

Newcastle all the way.

Can't Vote Because The List Is Too Small

For those Blue Moon fans out there, try Bell's summer wheat called Oberon. It's considered much better by many. Although the number of available states it's in is large, it's still limited.

Founders Breakfast Stout is incredible if you like coffee and chocolate.

Bells Two Hearted Ale is a great IPA, among the best there is.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale is very very good, and smooth.

Bells Expedition Stout is a crazy good arse kicker.

Goose Island Matilda is the best Belgian wheat I've had.

.....and on and on and on and on.....

TreeSemdyZee 11-11-2011 01:29 PM

Wait a minute. You can't be in redneck country. They only have Bud Light there.

Bells is in Florida, so you are in luck. They have a Java Stout you might like.

Bell's Brewery, Inc. :: Beer Finder

Founders is not in Florida yet. Georgia is the closest.

Closest Great Lakes is in North Carolina

I'm not sure about Goose Island because their website isn't as good.

It's OK, I don't really miss it...now if I were allergic to seafood, then you'd have to kill me now. :icon17:

6MT 11-11-2011 04:42 PM

A nice hoppy IPA is also one of my favorites.

OMG! my three favourite things! beer, coffee, and chocolate! I haven't tried them together... going to have to find some Founders Breakfast Stout!!!!!

dAvenue 11-11-2011 09:38 PM

The poll is skewed. Brown Ales are very different from Indian Pale Ales. That being said, I find it troubling so many people like IPAs. That sh*t is nasty!

Naw, the hoppier the better. Also a really bitter English ale is my favorite. And besides, the poll will recover once the red-necks vote.:rofl2:

I love San Miguel!!!!! Its different in Spain than the PI, but has the same label.

Actually, I don't like Budweiser and Tequiza, but other than that, I love them all! There are just too many good ones to have a fav, but Yuengling is at the top of the list.
