sit at a computer and post on forums i work at a walgreens distribution center doing computer automation for materials handling hardware. i don't work for walgreens itself, i work for a 3rd party contractor (who supplies the automation)

yea pretty much. it's kinda hard to describe honestly. we have automated cranes and conveyors here and my company produces, assembles/installs and supports the automated bits on both my side (PLC) and the IT side (database)

quite a bit... i'm basically on-site-on-call meaning i'm here for 8 hours and typically only have something to work on when they call me to look into an issue. since this place has been running for 5 years, problems are pretty few and far between. typically when we do have a problem, it's either IT side or a hardware issue. we help identify these (bad sensors, bad bar code scanners, drive/motor problems, etc)

Oh so you just sit there and wait for someone to give you something to do?... Must be nice :p
