eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:21 PM

thank you. its such a hard choice between the three cars. bmw looks sexy, but its certainly not a great long term car. so its either the g or the is. look the interior and the luxuries that lexus gives, but the car looks like a small car with a big booty. the downside on the g is that its way to overwieght.

I personally hate all Lexus cars except the LFA. I feel like they're such old people cars. I almost bought a G37 coupe instead of the 370Z, but the $6k price difference helped make my decision easier. I did like the Z better though.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:29 PM

i need the extra two seats. lexus is an old mans car because of the prices. its like a bmw or mercedes. if they all had affordable prices, pretty sure we wouldnt think that. thing that i love about lexus is the smooth ride. and the quietness. when i drive my moms ls460 during traffic, i tend to drift off to sleep cause its so smooth and quiet. and after having a z, i wouldnt mind that.

KaienZ34 11-30-2011 05:32 PM

I say G37S out of the choices you are looking at.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:34 PM

i guess so. but i still gotta go on test drives. isnt the g a rough ride though???

No I meant in terms of looks and feel. I definitely don't think the same of BMW or Mercedes.

is it because of the m series and the amgs???

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:40 PM

would yall rather choose a convertible or the isf???

KaienZ34 11-30-2011 05:42 PM

Just me, but i don't really like verts that much.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:44 PM

idk, i just love the feeling of having an open top. having the top down makes me feel like a free man. being inside a non converitble makes me feel like im cramped inside.

KaienZ34 11-30-2011 05:47 PM

I like to drive them, because it's as you said open and like when i had my R1. I just don't like the look of most verts when the top is up.

No, but those definitely help :icon17:

I think BMW/Mercedes have a more sportier and aggressive look to them, which I love. Lexus cars just look plain and boring to me. I do like the IS a little better than other Lexus cars, but I would choose it's BMW or Mercedes competitor every time.

I would personally go with the IS-F, but I would take an M3 over that

the g and the 3 series look good with top up and down. and the camaro. and mustang. all others look ugly. that is one reason for me having a bike. all that freedom. but with a bike, you cant lean back and just relax while crusing.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:51 PM

im pretty sure the insurance would be cheaper on the isf then the m3 just because its a 4 door.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:53 PM

true. the benz and the bimmer improved greatly on the looks of the car. much more sleeker and sexier. i still remeber when their cars were a box. i thought it was the ugliest car ever.

KaienZ34 11-30-2011 05:55 PM

My Z is only 30 bucks a month more than my wifes 4 door G8-GT. The Z was only 8 bucks a month less than a vette of the same year when i was looking.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 05:58 PM

wow. thats pretty cheap. u must have a clean record.

KaienZ34 11-30-2011 06:08 PM

Yeah clean record, now the vette i looked at was an 09 in 09 base model not like zo6 or zr1.

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 06:17 PM

oh okay. would the type of car make a big diff?? like having a 5.0, or shelby or roushe??

:iagree:

You never know about insurance till you check. I found out it was $6 less per month to insure a GT-R than my Z :icon17:

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 06:34 PM

no way. how does that work out??? isnt the gtr consider a supercar??

Yeah. I think it's because there are much less claims filed for GT-R's than there are for Z's, so it's a lower risk for the insurance company to insure the GT-R. While each individual claim for a GT-R may be more expensive, GT-R owners are much less likely to file one in the first place. It definitely confused me at first too :p

eddieconfetti 11-30-2011 06:38 PM

i blame the rwd. its all about the awd.

The trim does matter but i couldn't say how much. Before i pull the trigger on any car i get a quote from my insurance company.

I asked my insurance lady what car if any that they would not insure and she said the 300zx. Because of crash tests, claims filed, etc..

Sorry to hear about your accident but I'm glad you're okay.

I would go with the G37 personally. IS350 is nice, but not super sporty and the back seats suck balls, NO adult can really fit back there. Every German car I've ever owned, or my parents owned (going back to the 80's now lol) was a reliablility nightmare and I would not own another one ever, only lease so I could dump the POS before it was out of warrantee.

Odds are, if you were on your bike, you would've been able to avoid the accident, or you'd be dead or super fvcked up, it's kinda all or nothing with a bike.

My wife and I still can't get over the fact that our Z is cheaper to insure than our old GTR was. Crazy, but I think you're exactly right, fewer stupid people doing stupid things in GTRs (happens but it's more rare than with a 30K Z).

FL 4Motion 11-30-2011 08:16 PM

yeah, I just posted about it in the what did you do with your Z today thread.

We'll be changing the fluids/swapping in the nismo diff cover sometime in Dec after her track event this weekend at Daytona. I'm looking forward to finding out at what point fuel starve hits her on this track. On one of the sessions this weekend, she's gonna not fill up betwn sessions and see how far down she can get on the tank before having to come off and refuel. I'm going to guessitmate 6 dots down from full, we'll see what happens.

HKYStormFront 11-30-2011 08:26 PM

man she sure does spend a lot of time on track... that's a good thing!
