Officials announce 2013 Formula 1 race set for NJ - Racing - ESPN

I call dibs on the guest bedroom!

elmz 10-26-2011 03:30 PM

Interesting...I thought the American GP was officially going to be in Austin starting next year.

Zaggeron 10-26-2011 03:43 PM

No problems with two F1 races in one country. The USA is big. The Austin stop will be called the "United States Grand Prix", but at the end of the day, that's just a title with no entailment of exclusivity.

I wonder what the NJ race will be called?

added: See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Grand_Prix. Lots of examples of multiple F1 races in one year in the US. Only one in any given year is called the "United States Grand Prix". Austin gets to be called that only because it was organized first.

I plan on going to both of them.

I bet they call it the Grand Prix of the Americas or something like that... sort of like the European Grand Prix.

My buddy lives on Gorge Road, I think I'll be able to see it from his condo.

Also planning on going if I can. Maybe we can have a Mid-A caravan up there Steve?

2nd united states grand prix

Zaggeron 10-26-2011 05:32 PM

^^ I vote for "The Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix". I doubt that "The 2nd United States Grand Prix" will pass muster ... especially since in 2013 it will likely occur before the Austin event. :)

Skeeterbop 10-26-2011 05:36 PM

It could be called the North American Grand Prix

I would also love to go to both of these every year. I'm planning on going to the GP in Austin. So, what kind of fans do we have in the370z community? I'm a Mclaren fan myself. Go Whamilton!!!
