My current watch is a Seiko Sportura....this is all I can afford.

Seiko Sportura is a very nice watch, not cheap at all. I have one of the current Seiko Chronographs as well.

I win at google.

nogoodname 06-26-2009 11:11 PM

thanks, i just found it myself with Frost teasing me about it

there's some on ebay...not bad of a price

cow 06-26-2009 11:13 PM

I really like the face, but the band is a bit too ostentatious for my tastes (not that a band couldn't be changed).

nogoodname 06-26-2009 11:16 PM

i would change the band...that's my plan

I know, its unusual...those who own nice timepieces will understand...being a member of a few timepiece forums we do this every weekend in them...

just thought there may be a few here that appreciate nice watches...as all of you appreciate nice automobiles, right?

Here's a thread I think the OP will enjoy:

(I knew there was a similar thread around here....took me awhile to find it)

I love watches, they are my weakness. I have a nice collection of Tags, Omegas, Panerai, IWC, Oakley, and others. I refuse to spend more than $30 on a pair of jeans or shorts but I've dropped $9k on a watch lol.

arcticreaver 07-17-2009 01:17 AM

somehow panerai is loosing it's appeal to me. my watch to own for sure is the omega speedmaster 125 -

http://nakahiro.parfait.ne.jp/image/.../omega125.jpeg

it's a HUGE and heavy watch. without the crown, it's about 42mm and with the crown its almost 45mm. and the weight with the metal bracelet is 183g. it's been stated that only 2000 where made.

the look of the watch was that appealing to me at first, but i think it grew on me. and after i read about the history of the watch, it just made this watch the one watch that i need to have.

that is a watch that is going to take me some time because i would have to drop around 2.5k for the watch, most likely it's got some wear and tear and dings and dents so i would most definitely spend about another 1k for restoration by sending it to omega.

so my next watch in the near future is probably going to be the Seiko SBDQ001.

http://c-watch.co.jp/ww/photo/1112tu...dq001-5001.JPG

diameter 40mm
thickness12.8mm
weight 94g

nice size and nice weight. and not too bad of a price.

What IWC timepiece do you have? Sir you seem like you ball in watches and clearly have good taste, so the next question is do you have an AP or plan on getting one? What Pams do you have?

Pams have become more mainstream now but something about them is just classic. I have become a huge fan of Bell & Ross watches as of late, you can see the one in one of my earlier posts. Another one that has grown on me are Uboats. Yes after you're done wearing it for the day you can take it off and hang it on your wall, but it's just something about them.

smurfblu13 07-17-2009 02:55 AM

good thread, seen it done many times before as well.

Also OP like the new av pic, do you still have the Mach also?

arcticreaver 07-17-2009 03:13 AM

i think for me, the panerais were every cool when i first started to get interested about watches. but i guess after all the readings and photos of other watches, my tastes have changed. but yes, they are one of the classics, well at least i too consider them as a classic design.

i love g-shocks and the following is what i have -

G-Shock GW-M5600BC-1

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_1905.jpg

G Shock DW5600FS-3JF aka Hero G - the g shock that is so ordinary yet hard to find.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/p...F/IMG_1902.jpg

G-Shock GW9200-1 aka Riseman

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/IMG_1877.jpg

watches to me is about practicality and that's what i love about the G.

MightyBobo 07-17-2009 05:24 AM

I know so many people who swear by the G-Shock watches.

IWC is the Pilot, it is my only leather strap watch. Well Igot my first watch almost 10 years ago so I have been building a nice collection. I have the watches I wear everyday and I rarely wear my IWC since I am not a leatherband type of guy.

Hmm, I think I'll buy me a nice lambo before I get an AP watch :p.

I have the PAM296, I saw it in NY and fellin love with it. I wish it didn't have the cyclops but the gun metal is what sold me.

Nice I really like the big pilots, also the Portuguese. You can get an AP in the 20's vs. a 200 lambo lol. But I know what you mean those and Patek's are incredible and always glorious to see.

fly yellow 07-17-2009 02:59 PM

I love watches. Here are some of mine.

My favorite is my Panerai. It's easy to switch straps which makes it versatile.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/DSC_0028.jpg

My Rolex GMT is a classic.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/DSC_0023.jpg

Breitling Crosswind. Breitling makes a great watch for the money.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/DSC_0031.jpg

Tag Monaco, Limited Edition Steve McQueen 75th Birthday watch. I don't like Tags, but this one was pretty unique and I got a great deal on it.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/DSC_0025.jpg

I also have a 53mm U-Boat Left Hook, but I don't have a pic right now. I rarely wear that one. It is almost too big. It's about the size of the clock Flavor Flav wears around his neck.

Balzdeep 07-17-2009 03:05 PM

I'm a seiko whore.

Limited edition chronograph - 1000 pieces #572
Black Monster diver
Titanium Samurai - blue face SBD003 (very rare)

Cheers

Haha I agree I like the U Boats but in one my earlier post I had said once your done wearing it on your wrist you can put it back up on the wall lol. Nice collection btw. Does your Pam have the exhibition back casing?

No, it's fully automatic. The exhibition back only comes with the daily winders.

smurfblu13 07-17-2009 03:18 PM

Ah good point forgot about that.

kdo2milger 07-17-2009 03:47 PM

oh man, love those watches.

i guess now you need is a sumo to complete your collection?

chubbs 07-17-2009 04:46 PM

Hmmm - I am left-handed and wear a watch on my right wrist, so because those 'analogue style' watches have the 'winder' knob on the right I would never buy one (totally the wrong way round for me).

I live on a planet designed for right handers - but don't get me started on that one :tiphat:

Honestly one of the few Omega's I like. You seem to have quite a solid collection. Do you have a pic with all of them together? They always look so awesome when it's just a bunch of time pieces together.
