Won ebay auction at 55.1K for GT-R, Honda of San Marcos - MY350Z.COM Forums

Quote:

I won eBay auction item number 220823902975. I spent hours to watch this auction and won it at $55,100 sunday afternoon. As soon as I won I sent a email asking how would I make the deposit for the car. Monday Morning I called since I did not get a response. I talked with a Chelsea who took my call at 10am today (8/8/2011) I ask to speak with their internet sales person which is Randy. She tried to get me to Randy and finally said that he is there but refusing to take my call. I left a message with her to let him know that I am the winner of the auction and want to make the deposit and arrange pickup date. A hour later another guy called me said they are not going to sell me the car as Randy made a mistake and is out of town when earlier I was advised he was refusing my call and he is there. I advised I was unhappy that they are not going to honor the price and asked to speak to someone higher. He directed me to Ian at 512-392-1313. I called Ian and he said that they are not going to sell me the car for the price I won it at and if I want the car I will have to pay the price their asking of $59k.

I feel as what this dealership is a violation of Consumer Protection laws.

So far I have reported this to BBB, Federal Trade Commission, Texas department of motors, Texas's attorney's office.

ya there is a big thread on it on NAGTROC.. he posted there too

This story has gone crazy. It's posted on just about every nissan forum. People have killed the dealerships rating at a number of big sites like Yahoo. I bet the dealership now wishes they would have just sold the car and taken the hit. The horrible publicity has to be costing them more than $4k.

^^^X2!
Really for the 4k you think they would and save all the trouble.

It's okay...it's just a Honda dealer ;)

Bored at work and read the entire 25 page thread.

First 12 pages are full of Epic win!

tjlazer 08-09-2011 04:59 PM

damn, sleezy car dealers not honoring the auction for a measly 3900. Unbelievable. They just want to squeeze every red cent out of ya. I hope they pay the price

Been watching this since yesterday on my350z, sucks for that dealership.
All the lost business over 4,000 dollars.

Word on the street is when Motortrend contacted them they caved and are now going to give the car for the price he won it for.

This dealership is about 45 minutes from me. Even though they honored the price, I'll flip em the bird when I drive by this weekend :D

The fact this thread has hit 50 pages on my350z in 3 days, with all of people interested in the outcome, and helping out the OP is incredible.

I'd like to think we could do the same for a member on here.

christian370z 08-10-2011 09:43 AM

I think we would definitely help out a fellow the370z member if they were confronted with this type of situation. This is just another case of a dealership thinking that putting a sought after car on ebay will start a bidding frenzy and are shocked when it doesn't work out that way, they also tend to underestimate how quickly bad press spreads on the internet.

Glad to see a positive outcome for the now GTR owner!
