Hot Wheels Creator Dies at 95. What's Your Favorite Hot Wheels Memory? - WOT on Motor Trend

shadoquad 07-26-2011 10:37 AM

When I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do was make long lines across my bedroom floor of hot wheels and matchbox cars. Loved them.

Brutal 370Z 07-26-2011 10:42 AM

That is sad. I still collect 1:18 scale die cast model cars. Quite a few of my Ferraris are hot-wheels.

The tracks, the ones with the constant spinning wheels to make them go faster and faster! And then building custom tracks to make them jump over stuff!

Same here, I have 50+ 1:18 Hot Wheels Elite Ferraris.

is your collection purely ferraris? mine is a mix of everything? I have around 50 cars in total

Zerafian 07-26-2011 04:09 PM

That is sad

SPOHN 07-26-2011 05:22 PM

That's sad. Best wishes to his family.

Good thing is how cheap they have remand over the years.

I've been meaning to pick up a 370 but can only find a silver one.

vividracing 07-26-2011 05:43 PM

I remember I used to rear apart my Hotwheels and slam 'em! Or just bend the axles and end up with nasty oni-kyan. I was into stance before it was cool.

His legacy will live on in the form of die cast cars! RIP, best wishes to his family.

Isamu 07-26-2011 06:37 PM

aww that's sad

No, not purely Ferraris but mostly Italian and German.

Here is a link to my 1:18th scale diecast collection

Good stuff!

Brutal 370Z 07-28-2011 08:21 AM

Thats sweet bro. you have tonnes!! We have a lot of the same cars! My display cabinet is getting too full, I don't know what I'm going to do now lol. I might have to get some more shelving built.

Eric 07-28-2011 08:35 AM

I'm planning on picking up a few acrylic 12 car display cases so I can display the boxed cars properly.

Brutal 370Z 07-28-2011 08:38 AM

I might add another shelf in the cabinet. I already had another one made, but its full now. I think it has room for 1 more.

Eric 07-28-2011 09:29 AM

So, how many 1:18 scale do you have? I have around 250 of them.

I found this red UT Ferrari F355 GTS in a parts bin at a local flea market. It was in pretty poor shape when I got it but I was able to fix her up.

Brutal 370Z 07-28-2011 09:35 AM

my collection is at about 50. I only really collect ferraris/Mas + lamborghinis, and then the odd specialty car, like Bugatti, Zonda, GTR, GLK-GTR, S7, DB9R etc. Mostly just into the supercars. This keeps my spending to a minimum....otherwise you could go nuts buying these things lol

Eric 07-28-2011 09:41 AM

Same here, I used to buy everything I saw in 1:18th but now my collection is geared to mostly Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Right now I'm waiting for the new 1:18th Autoart LP670-4 SV to arrive.

What I would also like to see is for Autoart to model the 370Z and Nismo 370Z in 1:18th. I do have the Autoart Nismo 350Z but it doesn't appear that they or any other manufacturer will be doing the 370Z in this scale.

Brutal 370Z 07-28-2011 09:48 AM

I'm also waiting for the LP 670-SV. Theres a couple companies that make it right now but its going for around $500. I think the Autoart one will be around $120-$150. Don't think I'm going to grab a Z though since the 1:1 scale will be sitting in my garage in a couple weeks lol
