I drink a coffee or something, and skip the food. There just aren't enough convenient options.

Caravanshaka 09-16-2009 09:51 AM

I had oatmeal for breakfast, here at the office. and brought a peach in and had that too.

It's ok. I'd rather work in the private sector as opposed to the government because the amount of red tape really ties my hands; but I'm not going to find many private sector jobs with a pension, lol.

Caravanshaka 09-16-2009 10:00 AM

^I'd kill for a pension...

frost 09-16-2009 10:01 AM

Yeah, I get to retire at 55 with half my highest salary for the rest of my life (assuming it doesn't change before I retire). No problem with that.

sloterg 09-16-2009 10:02 AM

im hoping to retire with atleast 2 or 3 different retirement checks..

:)

Yeah, I don't have all my eggs in one basket, we have a 401k that they contribute to as well, and I put some money in there as well.

Caravanshaka 09-16-2009 10:10 AM

I'm 25, so not much planned for retirement yet...just 401k and real estate investments at the moment

sloterg 09-16-2009 10:12 AM

Well, not that much in real-estate, I helped my parents go in on a lakehouse and they are going to buy me out when they retire there and I'll use that cash to look into something else.

other than that, I just own a home with my wife...but at 25, I am pretty damn happy that I can already own a home instead of participation in the rent rape.

Ya, really....my group in my company has gone from over 20 people down to 8 in the last year...

the number of plants we operate for production went from 15 down to 5, and our total headcount for our division went from over 6k to 1300 heads...

sloterg 09-16-2009 10:33 AM

That's insane, glad to hear you weren't one of the unlucky ones.

Thanks...we are all thankful to come in to work every day now, and I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering when round 4 of the layoffs are going to happen...

Luckily, I positioned myself to be one of those people that the company doesn't want to lose, so hopefully I won't have any trouble. My boss told me to expect a promotion on the other side of this downturn, but you neve rknow.

phelan 09-16-2009 10:47 AM

Just stay in line and keep up the good work Caravan, and it will all pay off in the end!

Thats not a good sight at anytime of the day, let alone that early in the morning.

I was out cruising a while back when i was in high school and saw a dude in 2 pieces off the highway.

Caravanshaka 09-16-2009 12:22 PM

damn, glad I haven't run into that yet =/

I have no idea how I'd handle that kind of a scene...

semtex 09-16-2009 12:42 PM

I haven't been in the mood to look at nubile girls all day. That's how it has impacted me. And that's saying a LOT. I can't remember ever not being in the mood to look at nubile girls. I mean, I don't care if I have the flu or whatever -- I'm always up for that, ever since I was like 6 and realized that girls aren't just lumpy boys.
