I learned to drive MT in my 96 Civic sedan. I think it was easier learning by myself rather than having someone teach me. My mother just said what to do with my feet and that was it. I practiced doing this... first, stop, reverse, stop, first, stop, reverse, stop, etc. It took me a couple of hours to get the hang of it.

It usually takes about 5-10 minutes to understand what you're doing, and then another couple hours to get used to it and you can have it mastered in a couple weeks.

When I turned 15 I drove the family everywhere. My dad said I'd get tired of driving in about six weeks or so. Thus far he was off by 22 years and counting.

Thats awesome... I've always wanted an Alfa.

Of the Alfas here in the U.S., I'd suggest that you go for a '72-'74 GTV if you really caught the Alfa bug. That's the sweet spot. Stay away from the '81 Spider! And, anything Alfetta may end up a tragic story.

huh? Ok I'll top that, 104 in a 70. Stopped by a trooper in a Dodge Charger I thought was a hot rodder trying to race me.

P.S. It was dark, and I was in a Jetta.

Nice, I see your work sometimes.
I don't really post there though.

Whats the business with Ester oil? Won't the Z guys have similar problems since its the same engine?
( I can't keep up with all the billion debates about ester vs non ester etc etc)

shumby 12-30-2008 11:30 PM

^^^^ I am thinking so although I have not had the knocking issues on my 08 or 09 G. Will be interesting to see if it turns up here.

What oil are you using?

shumby 12-30-2008 11:53 PM

conventional 5w-30 but will go to ester oil just for shlts and giggles

Namir 12-30-2008 11:55 PM

What about a run of the mill full synthetic like Mobil 1 or something?

shumby 12-31-2008 12:01 AM

I think if you don't get the knocking and you don't track your car. that will be more then good. I have a Maxima that I drive hard all the time I change out the oil every 5000km with cheep old hi milaege prestone. And I got over 250000km on the car with no engine issues.People that are not tracking their car on a regular bases I think put too much time and effort into oils.

Time and effort into oils and endless bantering in threads on myg37
haha. We'll see if the Z guys catch ester fever too.

Asheth 12-31-2008 07:49 AM

Is this where I can rant?

I dont have a 350z or a 370z I plan to get a 370z when I return from Iraq. But I started on that other Z site My350z I just dont understand the endless bickering at all.

Mostly everyones biggest arguement is that its not that much of a performance increase. Which maybe a warranted argument but, what I dont get is if that it seems to be the biggest argument and the point is moot.

In TWO or 3 Years nissan will upgrade the engine and probably be what the 07-08hr 350z owners are looking for. But either way they end up in a damn Z34/370z and if not 2 years after that probably more power will be tapped by nissan.

It kills me that they are having a inferiority complex when there should be no need to. Dont buy the car keep your Z33 for 3 years and then jump on the upgrade. But you will still be in fangs and boomerang lights and it will still have the 370z branding.

K Im finished thanks lol
