Shouldn't most new cars go more than 110k before the rings are worn? WTF?

nogoodname 07-26-2009 02:14 AM

warranty is only 3 yrs for it

Always knocks out the damned power too.

I also hate the heat, I lived in St Louis for a while and it's much worse there. Some nights in the summer it never gets below 75. Sometimes we ran the A/C for weeks without ever turning it off. Sure glad we have central A/C in our new house, and a back up generator too. :happydance:

I think even a POS KIA will go beyond 110k before it needs new rings. Of course by then the car is worthless anyway.

Did you drive the crap out of it or what blue?

nogoodname 07-26-2009 02:17 AM

piston rings is still good on my 20 yr old car

What is your monthly electric bill? Ours last month was $66! And that includes our water since we're on a well.

Eff that! I lived in New Mexico when I was in the Air Force and the hottest I ever saw was 115, very dry though and I loved the T'stms in the summer!

nogoodname 07-26-2009 02:48 AM

Interesting. What is the incentive to not waste water then? Here if you waste it, you pay for it.

We have a brand new house with a heat pump, but we heated almost all winter with wood from our property, we have 5 acres. Our fireplace is really cool, it has a separate air intake outside the house so it doesn't pull in and waste the heated air, and it allows it to burn very hot/clean, you can't even see the smoke coming out of the chimney once the fire is hot.

nogoodname 07-26-2009 02:58 AM

there is no incentive, do as i please pretty much. my heat pump cools and heat also, only when under 12C.

i can waste water....lol

nogoodname 07-26-2009 03:01 AM

ohh , i also have awood stove for those winter power outs.....only for power outs, can be fined if used for leisure.

It seems like Canada if pretty progressive, I find it surprising they would not monitor how much water people use.

They have a few no burn days a year when the air is really bad, otherwise you can do what you want. I don't live in the city limits so it's voluntary anyway.

nogoodname 07-26-2009 03:08 AM

my wood stove is awesome, during ice storm 98, lost power for 3 weeks straight....good thing i got a gaz water heater......the stove was on non stop and i got too used that i actually laid my hand on it, i could hear my hand sizzle, i ran out to the snow.

Between 110-$180 here. All electric, no gas.

I also pay for the water/sewer and the laundry room I made for the other tenants.

Word. I hope the US fans have a good showing. It's really sad that every time they play a team from Latin America, the US play road games in their own country.
