After missing Fedex lady again yesterday, I left a voicemail asking her if we could keep in contact via email.

Got this this morning:

The initial number I claimed included the cost of the tires on the wheels, but, to cut costs & expedite the claim, with your OK, I'd remove the tires & send only the wheels back to Fedex.

my issue with ups that was similar, I got to keep the wheels, but only got 50% of the replacement cost instead of 100%. Frankly it is easier on them that way, cause all they have to do is write a check instead of coming to get the damaged wheels.
