THis happened about 3 houses down from where I was the other night. Left a friends 30min before it happened

The women, an 18-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident and a 20-year-old New Paltz resident, were shot about 12:30 a.m., police said. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said the altercation broke out at a house party on Hammersley Avenue, near the eastbound arterial.

Witnesses said 15 to 20 people were at the party, according to police.

Police said shots were fired at some point during the altercation. A stray bullet hit the 18-year-old who was walking east on the arterial, police said.

Another bullet hit the foot of the 20-year-old, who was trying to break up the fight.

Police said they did not know who possessed the gun or if more than one person fired shots.
