Bathroom hand washing etiquette

Just came back from the bathroom. Funny thing happened (try not to let your minds go downhill just yet).

As I was walking in to use the urinal, someone was just coming out of a stall. He looked at me briefly and realized I was someone he knew. He was heading straight out the door when he must have realized that he didn't wash his hands and that I saw him leaving without washing them. He came back over to the sink after about a 5 second pause and washed them (well threw some water on them quickly and then left the bathroom).

Just throwing this out there. Wondering how often this happens. Seems some people feel obligated to wash their hands when leaving the bathroom ONLY when someone else is there and has seen them.

Personally I always wash my hands no matter if someone else is in the bathroom or not because I'm slightly OCD about that kinda thing for some reason.

I know, seems like an episode of Seinfeld or Curb.

I wash my hands in the bathroom then once I get back to my office I use waterless hand sanitizer. :icon14:

I also sing happy birthday twice when washing my hands like the sign says.

shadoquad 06-17-2011 02:01 PM

Paraphrasing George Carlin...

"And I don't always wash my hands when I go to the bathroom, ok? You know when I wash my hands? When I get sh*t on them! Which happens, TOPS, 2-3 times a week."

:rofl2:

If you don't pee on your hands there's no need to wash :shakes head:

I use hand sanitizer on my way to the bathroom. If your hand makes contact with a doorknob, then you touch your wang to piss, that means that everyone that has touched that doorknob before you has touched your wang. That makes you gay. Best case scenario it makes you bi, but more heavily tilted towards gay because only men have real jobs. :p

The washing hands thing only matters to some.

If you're preparing food, then yeah, prolly a good idea.

If you're shaking my hand, I'm not worried, because I'll wash my hands before I eat regardless.

Ppl think they're ish is clean when they go and use an office keyboard or phone. That's where the real germs are.

I use those Clorox wipes daily on my desk, keyboard, mouse, phone etc.

You know your cell phone is supposed to be the germiest thing you touch?

Seinfeld, that's the first thing I thought!
People wash their hands, go to exit the bathroom, grabbing the "filthy door handle":icon14:! I use the paper towels I dried my hands with, to grab the door handle!

c41006 06-17-2011 02:09 PM

I wash my hands every time. Just habit

Yeah prolly.

Cracks me up that people freak out when a dog licks them. Dogs' mouths are much cleaner than ours.

Edit: On second thought, my cell phone can't be as germy as some of the Z owners I've met :rofl2:

And germophobia has really taken off in this country. Toughen up, folks, grow a f*cking immune system. lol

Lemers 06-17-2011 02:14 PM

I believe in a world where we can live harmonically with germs and we don't need to kill them. PETG.

It's not often a spammer actually contributes something to the thread. :bowrofl:

fullmonty 06-17-2011 02:26 PM

I used hand sanitizer constantly, enough so that the people at work bust my balls about it.

:icon18: Great bit, I love Carlin!

But yeah, I agree to some extent, I can't explain why I'm OCD about bathroom hand washing. I will go out and play paintball in the mud and give someone a big sweaty mudding handshake afterwards no problem.

I guess in the back of my mind, I feel sort of guilty touching my nether regions and then touching things others will touch also (doors, keyboards, people's hands, etc.).

Now if it's just me and I'm home, as long as I don't get sh*t on them I usually go without a hand wash afterwards (e.g. watching Football drinking beer and having to get up every commercial break to take a piss).

I don't....Does that make me a dbag?

shadoquad 06-17-2011 02:43 PM

I don't think there's anything wrong, really, with washing more.

I just don't automagically feel an obligation to wash my hands after a pee if I haven't splashed. The looks I get are fun.

m4a1mustang 06-17-2011 02:45 PM

Shado, I am not comfortable indirectly touching your pen0r.

I know, you like to go right for the goal! "To hell with hands," you'd say, "Unzip, I'm comin' in!!!"

rofl!

Monty: You washin' your hands when you're done?
Other Guy: Nope.
Monty: You are now! *splash*

frost 06-17-2011 02:53 PM

I always wash the hands because I'm trying to wash all the sins away.

Although there has been two occasions where I have been mad enough at someone to piss all over my hand then go touch as much of their stuff as possible.

/\ cut out the middle man and just go piss on their stuff=hands still clean and you still get your flawless victory.

PS--Frost, no amount of hand washing can cleanse YOUR sins bro (trust me, I've tried. :happydance:)

I wash my hands before and after a go to the bathroom. Especially at work where I have contact with aircraft consumables materials and NDI.
