Scion-Driving Crazy Lady Forces High Speed Chase, Gets Out To Flip Off Cops

okay.. I saw this on TV and couldn't stop laughing... You drive a scion XB! How far can you go?? :icon17:

Click for video: Jalopnik - Scion-Driving Crazy Lady Forces High Speed Chase, Gets Out To Flip Off Cops - Long Beach High Speed Chase

A lunatic in a Scion xB took California police on a bizarre 40 mile high speed chase, at times stopping to get out of the car to hurl obscenities and "gestures" at officers.

An unnamed woman attempted to ram a patrol car in Long Beach, CA. The car, responding to calls of a woman screaming in an intersection, then followed the Scion on a 40 mile chase at freeway speeds breaching the 100 MPH (xB's can go that fast?) barrier. The chase included moments where the Scion and officers drove against traffic, in circles in the median and most impressively, included a couple seconds when the woman exited the car to scream at the cops and flip them off. She was finally boxed in, pulled from the car and taken into custody, but seriously, that's a whole lot of crazy right there. [Huffington Post]

:bowrofl:
At least she had the decency to turn her Hazard Flashers on...

BanningZ 04-11-2009 06:14 PM

See you gotta love the toaster. I watched this live the other day and was amazed at how easily she was able to out maneuver the police with her Fwd 105HP Box.

BanningZ approved!

frost 04-11-2009 06:48 PM

I'm calling shenanigans, I find it hard to believe those toasters can get to 100 mph.

BanningZ 04-11-2009 07:00 PM

No shenanigans. I've done 100mph in the Toaster. Its a little scary considering the amazing aerodynamics that Toyota employed when designing the xB.

100 mph in a 108 hp block with possibly the worst aerodynamics ever implemented? My hat is off to you sir.

epod86 04-11-2009 07:14 PM

Well, a 'real' toaster (aka cylon) has faster-than-light travel :D

They were more aerodynamic.

epod86 04-11-2009 07:25 PM

actually I think this has better aerodynamics than a xB

Scion xB's, Also good for hooking.

frost 04-11-2009 07:50 PM

roflrofl. Great gas mileage and a place to lay pipe? Sold!
Anyway, to make sure this somewhat stays on topic, that lady getting out and flipping them off is hilarious. That takes brass.

epod86 04-11-2009 07:55 PM

Or meds, or voices, or illegal meds, or booze... do I continue?

Though I will shake my head in disgust if it isn't one of those reasons.
In that case, bring on the cylons!

frost 04-11-2009 07:57 PM

I didn't say how she got the brass :D
Yeah, she's messed up. If shes not on something, I would be pretty surprised.

^Why thank you **** :D

frost 04-12-2009 07:39 PM

rofl, at least you don't race it banning.

BanningZ 04-12-2009 07:52 PM

Nah its the girly's grocery getter, but its still a fun quirky car and its kind of fun to drive.

epod86 04-13-2009 12:26 AM

I'm sorry, but I think I would own a PT Cruiser before a xB. They just aren't my thing, plus I take offense to most, but not all, of the drivers in them. Along with Hummers and anything else you can call a 'land yacht' or a 'tarmac tank.' I've been hunting around for a recent list I saw of ten most common cars in accidents and guess what? Scions and Hummers were up there. Yep.

I'm seriously thinking a used HHR when i need a beater "girly grocery getter." Feel free to judge me, I was a bit brutal, but I reserve my opinion as my own.

EDIT: Sorry, not accidents, 10 most ticketed cars on the road, which to me says two thing: 1)targeted and 2) increased number of reckless drivers.

at least the Z isn't up there!

BanningZ 04-13-2009 12:58 AM

You're welcome to your opinion about Scions epod86. People have refrained from making Mustang comments because most of us respect that others have different tastes even if we don't share them. BTW my response to you was in jest. Notice the :D. xB's are a love em' or hate em' car, and Scion owners are well aware of that and so is the Scion marketing team (Its kind of worked to their advantage).

I offend you because I'm on my way to buy groceries? I'll warn my fiancee. :bowrofl:

Everything always in jest ;) I'm a newb when it comes to emotes, and i don't use them a whole lot. I know what's wrong with the pony, and it's not a great car, and I tend to hate other driver of it as well. I've always been a pedigree man, I think that the pedigree of a car should dictate how we respond to it on the road.

I have nothing against groceries (we all got to eat right?), or the car (it is still a toaster though) but the hoodlums in my area that drag on a 35mph roads (we have frontage roads for that crap) and blast music (this is one of my biggest car pet peeves). You of course may notice that I hate all cars/trucks/suvs/etc on the road save the select few. I mean, if I see a Morgan or a AC Shelby Cobra (theres that pedigree) I have to respect it, right?

returning to a light-hearted note, anyone driven a fiat panda? The go-kart commercial reminded me. Got a chance this summer to tool around in one in Turin, bloody tiny car.

Also banning, you on a AdultSwim kick or something? I do love robot chicken.

(Try and take the above in as funny a tone as possible, I'm still memorizing all the happy emotes)

BanningZ 04-13-2009 03:38 PM

There are no adultswim kicks. Only horrible violent shaking addictions. :D

:icon18:Welcome to l.a.

dad 04-13-2009 11:06 PM

Some one close to her recently passed away from cancer.

frost 04-13-2009 11:19 PM

I hope that's not her excuse. Not to sound cold, but welcome to the club. I'm too lazy to google it, but I bet somewhere between 35 and 50% of people know someone who has died of cancer, and they aren't wigging out.

batman_4 04-13-2009 11:32 PM

that is pretty funny lol

Josh@STILLEN 04-13-2009 11:38 PM

my favorite part was the chick on channel 5 (not this fox coverage) describing her driving through the median..

"now she's spinning around.. I think they call that 'doing broadies'.. "

She had to have teenage kids or she's a glamis whore.. not donuts.. broadies..

frost 04-13-2009 11:40 PM

Scion actually got some respect from me from this vid. Not only did it do 100mph, but it flew through that thick median, and did "broadies" rofl.

epod86 04-14-2009 06:31 PM

That's a good ratio there, 100mph with 108bhp? 0.92 mph per horse, Z can't do that ;)

frost 04-14-2009 08:05 PM

:icon18:

epod86 04-14-2009 09:52 PM

Oh wait, I took aerodynamics, I know this :p Just aero drag is a function of v^2.
Drag (physics)
Then there's rolling resistance.
Rolling resistance

Where's that Top Gear vid of 1001bhp going 250mph?
