I LOVE the smell of dead ZUNE!!!

About time they put that thing to rest.

Pretty much this.

The Zune was a legitimate device. It was pretty awesome.

Jordo! 03-25-2011 03:27 PM

Was that the PC version of the ipod?

I've seen commericals, but know no one who actually owns one (which, I guess, is why it's being pulled).

hansoac 03-25-2011 04:03 PM

I owned one. Wasn't too bad actually. Then I smashed it on accident :shakes head:

m4a1mustang 03-25-2011 04:04 PM

My gf got one when they first came out. The device itself wasn't bad but the whole Zune Marketplace sucks.

You do know that the Zune has pretty much the exact same functionality as the Ipod and all the other portable mp3 players, right? Your analogy is flawed.

I own an iPod, but the only reason was it had the largest amount of storage space available at the time (80GB). I replaced the hard drive a year ago with a 240GB drive. I didn't give a **** whose name was on the front, I just wanted a decent piece of hardware that would be reliable. All this brand loyalty ******** is just silly, way too many Apple sheep around that just buy everything that starts with 'i'.

The less competition the worse it is for a consumer. Competition is what drives down prices and pushes innovation.

im not an apple sheep, but i'll say this, no one else has built a proper marketplace like Itunes. Alot of companies think they need to come up with snazzy cool hardware and ****, but in the end its all a bunch of **** if it doesnt syn right, if there isnt a wide variety of music/videos etc or its not easy to use. Thats the stuff apple gets right. Their hardware isnt the best hardware in the world, but their software behind it all, is ussually smoother, nicer and easier to use than any competition. Again, this is where Microsoft has failed in the past, continues to fail (at least its fighting back now) and failed with the zune as well.

I mean smartphones are gonna slowly replace the functionality of iPod-like devices just like early cell phones took out the pager a decade ago. I haven't carried a music player since I got a Droid and more telling is that none of my kids carry dedicated music players anymore either. Ipods are soon to be buggy whips.

flashburn 03-26-2011 07:40 AM

If you say so, there isn't a smart phone on the market that I can carry my entire music collection around with me. Until that happens I won't be giving up my iPod. Hell, I'd prefer to have something that holds around 2TB of data, that way I could keep everything as FLAC instead of lossy MP3.

I still hate iTunes, buggy, slow as ****, and a complete system hog. I'd rather just keep my music sorted with Explorer. I've never bought anything from iTunes, don't want to support music loaded with DRM. I'll stick with Amazon and other various sources instead.

Speaking of phone mp3 players, Winamp beta just got released for Android.

Blue370tt 03-26-2011 01:51 PM

The real truth is that the Zune was launched to late against the ipod. For you bashers, the Zune has the exact same functionality as an Ipod and both have similar programs in their markets. I had the original Zune and have the Zune HD now. Both are/were good.

Windows phone 7 will suffer the same fate.

GZ3 03-28-2011 09:24 AM

there so many better mp3 players for the price though, I had a Zune, its was mediocre at best....
