Costco, Target, they ALL check receipts.

This is ******** propaganda written by the union (SEIU?) that harasses Wal Mart for being non-union. Designed to look like a rights issue when in fact it never happened. Who the f8ck would sit down and write out this crap in detail if it was no big deal? :shakes head:

theDreamer 03-18-2011 09:39 AM

Target does not check receipts, at least not in any Target store I have ever been to.

Waiz 03-18-2011 09:48 AM

This thread made me LOL, some people need to get off their high horse.

My time is more important than standing up for not showing my receipt and the checkers help to prevent theft which in turn keeps prices down.

Meh, maybe not. That just means they have more people watching your every move on camera.

But Costco does. every Costco I've ever been in has checkers by the front door.

This guy has every right not to show these minimum wage power-tripping clowns his receipt. IT'S THE LAW. I mean, what part of that whole story didn't you understand?

And the receipt checker who actually prevented him from leaving the store is out of his mind... Even if he did steal the TV he wouldn't be able to detain him. It's people like that who try and play hero for the day that end up getting killed by maniacs. I mean really... is a 200 dollar tv worth your life?

It's just sad that most everyone today is so willing to give up their rights just for the sake of convenience. Just like that loser woman who kept telling this guy to show them his receipt. Yeah it would take 2 seconds but THAT'S NOT THE POINT.

The receipt checker's job and pay already sucks, why make his/her day even worst by being as ***? Is it because he is not better than anyone else because he makes minimum wage and is working at Walmart/Target?

I agree that the *** was acting within his rights to refuse to show his receipt, but people who has nothing else better to do than go around and piss off other people, when others are simply performing their job, should be ashamed of themselves. I hate asses who use these rights as weapons and takes advantage of the rights and freedom that protects citizens and residents in this country.

An example, the Ku Klux Klan. They are doing everything legally, but they are one of the most f-ed up groups of citizens of this great country. Another example, read on the Westboro Baptist Church. "God hates fags".

Correct, they are legally allowed to because it is written in the membership agreement you sign to shop there. Same with Sam's club and any other membership shopping center.

Removed to your two examples because those are just stupid to try to compare to this situation.
The bold part is where we should look, it is not his job to check receipts though, the person at the door for Wal-Mart/Target is not allowed to ask you for your receipt.

TongMan 03-18-2011 10:00 AM

I believed his assignment was the "receipt checker"? Am I mistaken?

No it is not, as an employee at Wal-Mart/Target, a door greeter is not allowed to ask for a receipt, nor is any employee.

Yep, you can only ask for a receipt at membership stores (Costco/Sam's Club/etc.)
Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. is not allowed to ask for receipts.

HKYStormFront 03-18-2011 02:44 PM

i don't understand why this was such a big deal to the guy. it does sound like he's just trying to be an ***hole. i KNOW if i buy something like that at a big box store they are going to ask for the receipt so i walk up prepared with the receipt visible. how hard is that? is it a crime that the store is double checking to make sure you aren't robbing the place? i do agree that having someone checking receipts when there are tremendously long lines and plenty of open lanes (happens all the time at the wal mart here) is a little ridiculous but that's the store's manager's decision is it not? i bet this ***douche was there for at least 10 more minutes than he needed to be (that thought fills me with dread considering it was wal mart) because he didn't have his receipt out... i'm sorry, i don't give a ****

props to you, i probably wouldn't have said a word, i would have just waited till he got in his car, rip open the door and beat him mercilessly for a comment like that................. but then i have some anger issues

Actually, any place has the right to ask you to show a receipt. The customer always has the right to refuse, and they can do literally NOTHING about it.

I worked at Costco in high school, and did some time checking receipts at the door. Even if someone has obviously stolen something, you can't block their way or touch them.

TongMan 03-18-2011 05:40 PM

^^^they can cancel your membership with them if you fail to comply with their membership policies. But I was told before in this thread that store policies mean crap vs the individual's rights.
