Someone finally proves how bad pop music is
 

Check it. I always knew pop music sucked but i never realized how easy it was (had a feeling though).

Pop music is indeed easy for those with the natural talent for it. Hell, at least they didn't delve into Rap/R&B which just uses other peoples' songs as the beat, and skip that part of the creative process all together lol.

But really, if you ever read/watch/listen to how a lot of groups make their music, no matter the genre, it doesn't take that long.

I wasnt shocked so much by how long it took, but by the lack of creativity. those guys were able to make something that could have easily been mistaken as something by the black eyed peas or katy perry by simply following the observed formula of top 40s music.

Ah, that's true, lol.

Tutti frutti by little richard was written in 15 minutes and essentially changed music forever. Also, keep in mind in 1955 they didnt have any of this ****.

that point isn't the speed it was written in. The point is that it is so manufactured to make money and devoid of any creative or musical value. That is why this music never provokes any real emotional response like good music does. All it does it makes little girls fun placed tingle and has a beat so they can grind on the dance floor.

What was the last pop song (in the katy perry/black eyed peas genre) that you heard that you thought "wow those are great lyrics" or "wow what a talented musician"?

And dont even get me started on Hip Hop. I wish I could steal someone elses beat, call it "sampling" and make a million dollars regurgitating the same POS.

Pop music has been formulaic for a long time. Pop music doesn't usually bring any artistic merit to the masses, but that's not what it's about. Pop music is just about making people happy and warm the first time they hear it. It grates on the nerves after a while.

Truly deep and well-written music can take a long time, can lead the artist to other continents, can touch the soul deeply and lead to a life-long appreciation and inspire generations to come.

But there's a need for pop music as well. It's to occupy people today while the next wave of truly creative artists draw deeper inspiration from the really abstract and arcane music.
