you can call and place your order too. Note that V1 is only available from them direct. I've got 2 of them.

oh ok thanks a lot

do you by any chance know if its legal or not?

Musashi 04-02-2009 11:18 PM

in most states it is....

KillerBee370 04-03-2009 12:10 AM

Just order it from the V-1 website. I did.. it's legit.

Radar detectors are legal everywhere except Washington DC and Virginia.

Yes that site is safe. In fact, I would recommend only buying from that site as they don't have any 'vendors' so other sites will have second hand products. They are legal in all states except Virginia and DC. In New York and California I believe there are laws against fixing items to the windshield so obviously that includes radar detectors. In this case you would have to mount it to your dash or rear view mirror etc.

I have a V1 and it works well for radar. If you get hit with laser you are screwed either way, the detector just lets you know you are about to get pulled over.

yeah thats what im planing on doing ordering it from them.

I think it does a little more then just tell you that your gonna get pulled over  i mean if you know that there is a cop behind you or in front ahead of time then you would just slow down to the speed limit and not get pulled over

Musashi 04-03-2009 02:06 PM

um not exactly, with that attitude you'll get busted for sure. With a radar you have to combine common sense, knowledge of the roads, and calculated risk taking. I know from experience...

I got nailed more then doubling the speed limit on a back road, and had to go to court, get a lawyer, steep fines &legal fees, etc. Not fun.... They can hit the instant on and ping you, then it's too late!

True! Got hit with the laser and there was no warning from my V1 that would have alerted me in time.

V1, like any other radar detector, detects stray signals in the air to alert you that a radar or laser gun is being used. This can sometimes be miles away from a police officer, or 1000ft away when he has you in the sights of his laser gun.

Laser is NOT always on. The operator aims it at a car, pulls the trigger, and immediately views your current speed on his display. In this situation, your V1 will go off (in a set of Panic beep/chimes) and for the most part just makes you aware of the fact that you have been lasered.

Radar, is typically left on and emitted from a car mounted unit. These signals are scattered through the air bouncing off cars and other objects. Usually you can detect radar signals far in advance and slow down.

The radar detector WILL detect a signal if it hits your car/detector. But sometimes the situation makes this obsolete because you will get pulled over regardless.

Be smart, a radar detector is not a magic cloaking device.

It's no cloaking device, but it sure pays for itself if you have 332 horses waiting to gallop.

Here's a DIY on a clean installation to the rearview mirror.
