I almost sh!t my pants just right now
So I'm heading home from hanging out with my buddy and I'm on an empty highway. I live kinda far from the main city, so it's a good 10 miles and the speed limit is 55. I'm cruising at about 80 or so, and after I pass a couple cars and no longer see them I decide to try out my 370Z's 4th gear acceleration. I floor it and enjoy the feeling of being pressed in my seat and don't notice that I'm already going 110. In my rearview mirror I see headlights, they look like a truck because they're too high for a car. The headlights are getting closer... I figure wow, this guy is really in a hurry somewhere... So I slow back down to 80 and change lanes to let the guy pass me. As the truck passes me see that it's a cop. He blows by me at about 120 or so. My first reaction is OMFG - the cop just passed me while I was going 25 over! He also most likely witnessed me doubling the speed limit as well!
At this point my exit is coming up and I see the cop is getting off on it. I had the urge to just keep going, pass my exit and come back but I was feeling tired and wanted to get home so I followed the cop. At the end of the off-ramp the cop stops and turns his lights on. I begin mentally cussing myself out for not listening to my inner voice. I pull up behind the cop and watch him get out and approach my car. I ask him how he's doing and in response he says, I'm on a domestic violence call, what's your excuse? I reply that I'm going home. He then asks me, would you please slow down? I assure him that I will, thank him, wish him a good night and he leaves to get back to his duty. I have to say that was probably the best experience I've ever had with a cop and I wish you all the same should you ever get caught for doing something stupid. |
dang what a close calll haha.... nice cop
|
your one lucky dude. i also tried my 4th and opened it up to 7500 rpm. i think i was about 110 to 120 but didn't look at the speedo...
|
You remind me about all the times the cops stopped me during a little "test driving" on two or four wheels....
Sometimes you meet the right guys, sometimes not. But when you meet the right cop your faith in the law reaches a higher level. You really think they're working FOR you, not AGAINST you. |
close call. glad you made it out without the ticket.
|
That would of been an expensive one, cha ching...
|
I don't know about the rest of you but I assumed this post was gonna involve the use a toilet.

I immediately connected it with the other new thread on 'internal gripes' (which I haven't read yet). I was starting to think that I'd made a 'boo-boo' and 'logged' on to some other 'dump' by mistake. Oh well - I suppose that cop gets a few 'brownie' points. |
Your one lucky dude...
Slow down or be prepared to pay the price! Literally homie. |
i would have passed the exit...lol
I remember once a cop pulled behind me and followed for a bit then i decided to do a few right turns and i followed him.....lol....i think this really pisses them off....ha |

I was on the Garden State Parkway on the left lane and I didn't even notice but there was a State Trooper behind me. I thought he would just pass me so I just kept on going. A few moments later he pulled me over saying that I blocked his way from a speeding car. He said he was gonna write me up for a ticket and give me 2 points but didn't. I still don't get why he couldn't have just gone on the other lane... |
Interesting story, nice cop for sure too. I wish they would request me to "please, slow down".

If any of you are from Ontario Canada you will understand what I am about to say.
I use to live there for about 18 years. Last year I drove my 350 up to visit some of my friends. Unlike the US the highways pretty much have 0 police on patrol. (Along with where I live in Oakville). Everyone there does about 80+ on the highway(130 kmh) atleast. the speed limit is 100 kmh I was doing about 110 mph, when all the sudden I saw a car picking up speed behind me. Now if you are unlucky enough to find a cop on the road in Ontario( pretty much impossible ) 50 kmh over the speed limit is a 10,000 fine and your car get impounded on site. I know I didn't pass him and I had enough space between us so there was no way for him to tell how fast I was going. I picked up the pace to the next exit, so that he wouldn't be able to say how fast I was going. I was atleast doing 145 I know it didn't hit the restriction. I was really close to where I needed to get off about 1 exit before where it would be ideal. But I just needed to get off the highway as fast as possible. I got off and hooked it right at the light. Then started going normal speed. He didn't see me blow the red light since he was still a little ways back. He did get right on my tail and followed me for about 15 mins all the way to my friends house. Three other cops joined in on following me, but without a solid reason they can't just pull you over. I made sure the entire rest of the way I did everything by the book. Full 2 second stops and all, when I finally parked the car and got out he yelled at me to come over to his car. "So kid how fast were you going?" I answered with well the car tops at about 150 mph but I was only doing 65 sir. Winked and walked away. Was the greatest feeling ever. |
The highways over have everything
Cops hiding in the median openings, sometimes motorcycle ones Cops on bridges to scan and a cop on the highway to get you Cops tail gating ppl out of nowhere to see what speed you are really going at I know all the hiding spots on the highways. So I speed up and coast down to a slower speed at these monkey business zones. Once, I stayed in the left lanes going at speed limit and I looked at the cop, he was sleeping and the scanner was on the dashboard.... Should have blew the horn.... LOL |
cops are probably tail gating you in hopes you move so they can pass as far as the cop telling you to slow down because he was going to a call seems about right. i would look at it as being lucky. not getting a ticket is always a good day

ya man u got lucky!! i have a **** my pants story too. a couple weeks ago me and my buddies (lightning and s4) wanted to see what my car could do. me n the lightniing lined up at a 40 roll and went...must been around 100 when we slowed down..and boom..i saw those dreaded tail lights behind me...im like OMG...im done. we were doing 90 at that time in a 65. my friend switched out of his lane and the cop just blew by (WHEW!)...all of us wet our pants. THEN, as idiots, me n my buddy in the s4 were lining up (5 mins later), and that same cop blew by us (luckily we were not speeding at this time). So we wiped our sweat and headed home. We got luckyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... (please keep racing to the tracks)

Hey guys I have a question. He clocked me at 93 but said he wrote it at 89 to give me a break but my question is I never received a letter on the mail and when I checked on line with my citation number and even my driver license number it says " no record ". I dont know what to do since in my ticket it says there court date is march 6. Any thooughts? Should I just ignore it since on the data base I dont have any record? If I go to court and show them my ticket they probably will say we will make you a record and this is how much you will pay.
|
Show up at court and sit down. Wait for your docket to be called. If it isn't... go home, but keep your parking receipt to show you were there or get a copy of the docket list for the day!

The one and only time i street raced (dumbest thing i have ever done, might i add), was when i had my Z and was playing around with a GT-R. Got caught doing 187kmh in a 110 zone. Cop said "gimme one good reason why i shouldnt give you a huge fine, take your licence away and impound your car" i told him there was no excuse and i never street race. He let me go with a $355 ticket and 4points. I went to the court date, nicely dressed and was polite to the prosecutor. She cut my ticket to $177 and 2 points. So in other words, go to the court date, u will either get off or get it lowerd. |
You are SOOOO Lucky. I got clocked at 115 in my civic one day. Had to go to court and all not fun.
|
Solution? Stop driving like an idiot!
|
My question is ? Isnt it that I should get something in the mail stating This is the fine or you can contest it in court?
|
I would've taken the next exit... glad it worked out okay
|
lol carefulnext time! haha if you ever need motivation to keep it the speed limit and save the speed for the Track/strip just keep picturin this........
all alone , tears streaming down both sides of your faceand hands cupped over your mouth as you watch your Z get impounded...... im tearing up just thinking if that happened to me! lol |
