Help with anyone who knows stuff about TV's
I bought a SONY EX500 4 months ago, and I noticed once I moved into my new place there is horizontal banding on the TV similiar to banding on prints... Does anyone know what would cause this Ive updated the TV, hard reset unplugged still all there! Any suggestions
News to me. Have the same model in the bedroom, only thing I've had to do is adjust the color tones.
Is it also there if you use another or no input? Different cable?
Yeah its very weird, not sure what the hell it is... interference next to XBOX i dont know!
Try testing with a different cable...
(If this works correctly, then the original cable is to blame) Try testing on a different input... (If this works correctly, something's up with your original input) Try testing a different device on the same troublesome input. (If this works correctly, it's your source device, not the tv) |
one of the back lights could of come loose during the move
Is it LCD? it's a known problem on lcds. You should check avs forums.
Yeah its a Sony LCD... so is there an option to fix it?
It appears on games, and when I had cable...
It seems electrical interference... I plugged into outlet behind my couch and that seemed to get rid of it or make it better.

Does anyone know a good brand with electrical filtering to block out some of the interference?

Can anyone help me? I still notice it, should I buy a better surge protector?
What kind of cable do you have hooked up to it? If it's HDMI, than it's not a interference issue. I remember back in the CRT days, some TV chassis had banding inherently built into the sets.

But do you think a monster cable would work |
It doesn't hurt to try. But from what I researched, line conditioners don't do anything.
I forget what the brand is but Monster Surge Protectors are just rebranded stuff. Im not saying its bad though, I would go with a Belkin PureAV filter, its solid, and I picked up mine for $40 on sale. IMHO, its one of the best investments especially when you have flat screens and other high valuable electronics. The best part about these surge protectors with filtering is that it tells you when its filtering surges and cleaning out noise coming in from the outlets.
Forget Monster, it's just overpriced hype.
The Belkin pureAV Silver is a good surge/filter, not sure if it will fix the TV issue though. |

monster stuff doesnt have to cost alot if you know which ones to get Amazon.com: Monster Cable MP HTS800 Home Theater PowerCenter HTS800 With Coax Protection: Electronics Yes i consider 30$ cheap... My home theaters, computers etc get plugged into GOOD surge strips.. small stuff like lamps etc go into cheapo 6$ ones. realistically, its a worth while investment if you consider the cost of everything you will plug into it. |
Ill try looking into a belkin pure and see if that works!
I can't remember what type of Sony flatscreen it was but my g/f tv did something similar and shortly after the board died.
