california ticket violation 23123 aka cell phone violation

okay i read the law that for first time violation it is only a $20.00 fine. second time $50.00 fine.

my boss just got a ticket and the letter came in today at 132.00. wtf? did we misread something here?

There's also a bunch of "charges" and "fees" associated with it. Basically, the courts, cities, county, state, police wants a piece of the pie.

Cali has to get their money somehow...besides steeling your taxes I suppose...but god damn...thats a big hit. I assume if your caught on the phone whiel driving they give you that ticket?

arcticreaver 03-19-2009 06:41 PM

i think it's total BS that on the official law it states 20 to 50 dollar fine when the ACTUAL bill is for 100+. i need to move.

While I don't agree on the $$ amount discrepancy of fines etc..

I'm all for the banning of talking (non-emergency) on a cell phone while driving..

sekz370 03-23-2009 08:58 PM

this law doesnt bother me at all. i cant stand people that are on the phone while driving.

pikespeakz 03-23-2009 10:36 PM

well my boss is pretty upset. i always had bluetooth when i drive. just asking if others knew more about this law.

chubbs 03-24-2009 06:55 AM

Tell your boss that Chubbs says, "Just be thankful you didn't cause an accident while you were on the phone."

...no sympathy here either.
