Drew what was your top speed in the rally last year?

Uhm, not exactly sure. However there were stretches where we were going flat out ~120mph on the freeway for a few miles at a time when we could see far enough ahead of us and there wasn't much traffic in the way

We need to get a 370z on that show.

I seriously considered entering, but never got around to it, and despite what I tell myself, I'm too attached to my car's pristine condition.

It's $20k to get on the show, IIRC. Plus you have to take time off from work, pay for your own hotels and meals, etc. Not for the faint hearted or broke *** enthusiast.

Not quite true - the $20k is the buy-in amount per-car for the 7-day rally, not the reality show (it's okay, people confuse the two all the time). While it's true you need to get yourself to the reality show starting line and home once you're kicked off, when you're actually shooting you get per-diem and are provided hotels, meals. There's no entry fee for the reality show. The main thing is taking the time to do this - could be a month of shooting

I think the fence was stupid. Seriously.... why a fence? Why not a wall of lawyers?

It's made very clear to all contestants that they should be willing to sacrifice their car's good looks if they want to compete in this race. You obviously wouldn't be a good contestant :P Neither would I. Fun to watch tho!

Anyways, regarding this last episode - I loved how Goldberg ripped all the teams a new one cause Wu pulled one over them all again. Awesome! Go Team Wu! Those guys are hilariously mischievous in the real rally too.

I caught a few episodes. Totally hating team Lexus, that chic went off on everyone saying she knows more about cars than anyone there and that she has a racing background....that made me laugh. The asian dudes from Team Lambo are also a little annoying, but its a sweet car. I've never really seen the show before, its both annoying and interesting at the same time.

I could take a month off if they were paying for hotels and meals. That would be easy since my vacation is paid.

I agree that my Z wouldn't be in the show, but I'd totally rock my Dodge minivan. LOL

I also liked how Gold chewed their asses out, but I wonder if it was more for dramatic effect to fire them up and make the show more interesting. I seriously think he hates the Lexus team.

Welcome to the thread on hating the chicks. :roflpuke2: I think most of us would agree she's annoying.

If that's what it takes to win, I'll be an ******* too. C'mon, seriously. The Wu brothers are fun-loving guys who happen to have the best handle on what needs to be done in order to compete heavily in this game. While Goldberg was chewing out the other teams he was actually also giving them valuable advice. Cause seriously, the Wu's have never even broken a sweat doing anything this entire rally so far.

Seems everyone else is in it to be all chummy and have a good time. Wu's are the only team in it to win it.

Srs. The crap they are doing is pretty light compared to what I'd be doing to fo0ls to win. Assuming the rules let me do some of what I have in mind.

Team BMW is right behind them without doing any of the crap they are doing. ;)

However we don't know the rules of the contest except that they cannot use any electronic equipment to find their destination.

Rules
[edit] Objective

Each day of competition contained three distinct stages - Leg 1, Heads-Up Challenge, Leg 2.

Each team begins the day by choosing whether to follow "My Way" or "The Highway" (both of these terms explained below under "Routes"). In the first leg, the teams must reach a checkpoint in the fastest time. However, if a team is caught speeding, that team receives a five minute penalty.

After all the teams complete the first leg of the race, the teams with the fastest times choose a lower pair of teams to compete heads-up in a challenge, in which the winning team will gain the faster time of the first leg between the two.

Finally, the teams compete in a way similar to the first leg, but a time bonus may be added midway on the routes, depending on the length of the second leg.

After all the teams complete leg two, the times for both legs (including time bonuses and speeding penalties) are combined. The team with the longest time to complete both legs is then returned the keys to their vehicle, in which they must immediately leave.
[edit] Routes

Before races begin, the teams have two options on how to get to their destination: "My Way" or "The Highway". "The Highway" is the route the producers of the show have chosen for the day's race. It is generally easier, but may take longer to complete. The second option is "My Way". The only rule of these two options is that once a team chooses "My Way or The Highway", it must stick to it until the end of the second leg of the day.

Example: If a team chooses "The Highway" for leg 1, they would have to select "The Highway" for leg 2 as well. Those that choose "My Way" must avoid "The Highway" route.

On Days 5 and 6, all routes were "My Way" due to short legs.
[edit] Other Rules

1. No GPS or Satellite Navigation systems can be used.
2. No cell phones.
3. No laptop computers.
4. No radio or CD player.
5. Speeding will lead to severe penalties, such as a time penalty. An arrest will lead to immediate disqualification.
6. At the start of each day, cars may only leave when instructed to do so.
7. Cars must start and finish each day under their own power, or the power of their drivers.
8. Cars finishing outside the maximum time allowed for each leg will get picked up by the ‘reaper’ and towed – leading to disqualification.
9. No ditching the chase vehicles.
