Trade project cars?

So I have a mercury capri that I have been working on a bit.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he mentioned that his brother works at a car dealer.

I went over just to take a look. What do I find but a 1986 nissan 300zx non turbo with a v6.

Now I was talking to him about this car and he mentioned it does need some care and needs a new power steering pump.

Will need new paint and interior panels and seat covers as well.

What should I do trade straight up for the project car?

I can't guide you either way on this, but I think I can predict the results, given the site where you've posted it. lol

If capri is running, keep it. You're trading a running car (capri) with a non running car (and more work needed car) . Sinve you're still a student, I'd keep a car with LEAST maintenace. You'll have plenty of time to buy nice cars and mess with them in future. As a student, you want to keep your options simple.

Ya I agree but we shall see.

AK, it is a project car and I understand being able to drive it and all. With a power steering pump and a battery is all that is needed to get it running. I would go either way.

Also the plus is bigger engine bay already has a v6 and is already rear wheel drive makes it easier for upgrades in the future.

I recently sold a 92 infiniti g20 that ran perfect, ac worked, radio worked.. was ugly but worked great.. sold it for 1k ... purchased a 95 eclipse gsx that " ran " . " ran " until it got home, a turbo, battery, alternator, a few fuses, re-wiring seval things, and a few trips to the welder and its now running and its given me several migraines.. so far has been more $ than what its worth...

Stick with what needs the least work if its your main source of transportation. OR take the 300z and expect the absolute worst and be lucky if it turns out better.

Either one is just a project car so it would be off the road until I decide to put it on.

Keep the Z family alive! Alive, I tell you!

I think I will keep it alive, think I will do the trade.

you weren't kidding when you said that thing needs a paint job! Wowzers!

But it's still pretty damn cool
