Holy ****... a REAL track for once. That looks promising.

Now let's just see it built...

Zaggeron 09-01-2010 12:07 PM

Wow. Very nice! I know where I'll be once a year from 2012-2022

Boost_lee 09-01-2010 04:52 PM

I'm so glad this will only be an hr away from home :)

import111 09-01-2010 08:15 PM

Looks like a good F1 track. I see lots of places good for passing.

F1loco 09-01-2010 08:22 PM

:D. Been waiting for this for years. See everyone in 2012. Counter clockwise, up hill start to tight left hander, this is going to be good....

Chriz 09-02-2010 07:15 PM

10 min away from where I live!

Zaggeron 09-02-2010 07:38 PM

10 minutes? Your "Location" tag must be off then. It says you are in Houston.

adampetrasek 06-05-2012 05:28 PM

I'll most likely be buying turn 5 Tickets. Mainly b/c of my budget. I'd love me some turn 12 or 15 tickets. :) But ya know! I really hope you can see the back straight and turn 12 and 13 from those seats.

Where are you at? Del Valle? I lived in Cedar Creek (between Bastrop and Lockhart) for about 9 months. I know a guy whose parents house is literally on the hill above the track.

b1adesofcha0s 06-05-2012 06:16 PM

Looks awesome

Boost_lee 06-05-2012 11:30 PM

definitely considering some GA tickets. Might be cool trying to snag pics from different areas. Can you roam to different spots throughout the event?

It's a beautiful track. Been streaming F1 practice this morning via Speedtv.com.

b1adesofcha0s 11-16-2012 10:10 AM

Looks great!

VDC_OFF 11-16-2012 10:13 AM

whoa whats with the bumps? They trying to make it like Laguna Seca or something?

m4a1mustang 11-16-2012 10:15 AM

What bumps? It has elevation change to keep it interesting, otherwise it's very smooth. Flat tracks are boring.

VDC_OFF 11-16-2012 10:17 AM

well at high speeds those elevations will turn into bumps quickly haha. I see some accidents in the near future with a blind corner

Pintsize725 11-16-2012 10:19 AM

Still wishing I could be there. :o Next year for sure.

m4a1mustang 11-16-2012 10:19 AM

No, they aren't bumps. They are relatively smooth elevation changes. I think that view just distorts it a bit.

Check out the live stream from practice: SPEED Streaming

Onboard vids. They'll give you an idea of what the track is like.

VDC_OFF 11-16-2012 10:26 AM

of course, blocked at my work. I swear this is the only site that works...fml

Zaggeron 11-16-2012 12:59 PM

I decided to skip being there in person this year as I'm sure it was a logistic nightmare for the people attending -- not to mention the long lines at the Johnny on the Spots.

One of my coworkers is there right now though.

VDC_OFF 11-16-2012 01:02 PM

I procrastinated on buying tickets, kept buying car parts instead :(

Pintsize725 11-16-2012 01:10 PM

Practice runs are streaming again!

Here are some of my photos from the COTA. Formula One - Circuit of the Americas - Austin, TX - a set on Flickr

VDC_OFF 12-04-2012 12:02 PM

Very nice! At the speeds they were going, how hard was it to keep the car in focus at slow shutter speeds?

I was able to get a lot more of panning shots of the cars (like the one you highlighted) that i would show off to friends and family. But very few of them where sharp enough to be proud of. The HGP cars where much easier to photograph since they aren't as fast as the modern F1 cars. I found that shooting off as many photos as i could while looking down the side of the lens, not the viewfinder, helped me track the cars better too.
