Also lets you know, to a degree, how high the cost of living is here. You couldn't live in the states for that amount of money. Seriously, you just cannot feed yourself on that, let alone throw shelter over your head. So, to a degree, they make that, but in regions where they can survive on that.

And to think we call camping recreation. These people camp in straw or mud huts daily.

I'm not saying that it's not abject poverty. Ok, granted, it's terrible.

I'm just saying that in my geographic area, MD, even the worst hovel short of living on the street costs 200 a month to rent. Don't make me out to be some monster.

I wasn't serious when I said "make them go back to school." That's an obvious joke.

My point is that there are places in the world where one can live on 200 bucks a year. It ain't pretty, but you can't even feed yourself for that in this country.

I could do that, but my focus is on improving my current situation, whether that be much better or worse than others'. I agree that perspective is important. But I also have no control over their situation.

But for the cost of a cup of coffee a day you could feed, cloth, and provide life saving surgery to one of these children. And in return they will write and send pictures to you.

Or it goes to buy airtime for the 70 thousand commercials you see. You give them a dollar, 80 cents of it goes to things other than the child itself...

Want some perspective? Why are we more apt to support foreign impoverished people or doggies/kitties, when there are very real American humans who are out on the street and in need of assistance in the good ol' USA?

Then again, what moral high ground do I have? I don't contribute to any of it. I'm just tryin' to pay my bills until the next ones come in a month or so.

To be completely blunt and honest, I'd much rather support the ASPCA or the Shriners Children's Burn Victim Hospital than those commericals. We have starving and Injured people in our own country, plus animals that can't even defend themselves from brutal owners and neglect. They don't have the ability to take care of themselves like certain places do. They already get Billions in government aid, and where does it go...????

I don't feel like a dog's life is more important than a human's, and I'm a dog owner. Helping injured humans, like through the VA or the Wounded Warrior Program, that's going a long way to help someone who deserves it.

I unno. This thread went from lulz to drama pretty quick. I recuse myself from this convo.

The deepest point on earth is challenger deep in the Mariana trench at 6.78 miles deep or 6800 ft deeper than everest in high.
