This is incorrect, any exisiting unlimited data plan user will be grandfathered under this plan. I use my phone daily and have never reached one 1gb.

If you buy a new iPhone, you are not obligated to accept the new plan terms; existing plans will be grandfathered, according to a post on AT&T's Facebook page. iPad owners can also grandfather in an unlimited plan, although it's not clear what happens if you drop month-to-month coverage.

Good to hear they are not going to force people into the new plans.
While I would like the savings, I prefer my unlimited data and have gone over 2GB.

Here's the thing. Everybody bitches about dropped calls with AT&T and an overburdened network, so when AT&T starts taking action to force the heavy users to pay more, to relieve this congestion everybody bitches again. They can't win for losing. Frankly heavy users should pay more than light users, there are few business models where users of a service all pay the same amount regardless of use. Take Netflix, the more you rent , the more you pay, that is a fair way to do it. Or even your monthly minutes, if you want to use 450 minutes you pay far less than somebody using 1500. Don't people keep track of their minute usage, why is data such a big deal?

Thanks is a good question!

I don't think I have ever check my data usage since I'm not into all those "gizmos", I might be too old. :(

Called my local AT&T dealer and they will start taking orders on June 15 for the iPhone 4.

I have bought my last 3 phones. It's called an extravagant gift :P

And ATT and Apple will do the usual and "grand father" the unlimited plan. I put that in quotations because it doesn't prevent them from making changes. First gen iPhones got a cheaper unlimited plan and the price was grandfathered in when it went up, but has since then been adjusted to 30 dollars. I still remember the headache it was fighting over that. The plan also used to include 200 texts, but to my knowledge, that has been dropped as well.
