Parking tickets. Awesome.

Two parking tickets in one month for no front plates. I love Southern California.

Hello, Stillen bracket.

Hello, Stillen bracket.

Yea I slept over at this girl's highrise loft in the loop of downtown Chicago last night. Meter parking starts at 8, I woke up at 8:35, got dressed n headed down to my Z parked right outside to find not one, but TWO tickets on the windshield of my Z. Both written at 8:22am, one for overdue meter, one for no front plate... $50 each. :(

pompey 05-26-2010 04:45 AM

wow, tickets for that!?
sorry to hear bout it.

States lost income tax rev. So now they are going after more money in fines and fees.

$50 was that fine only or did you pay more with fees?

Jeffblue 05-26-2010 07:02 AM

Parking tickets: So cops can bust your balls even when you aren't driving

Lemers 05-26-2010 07:05 AM

Illegal is illegal. If it's on a public street it must meet all legal requirements.

fullmonty 05-26-2010 07:06 AM

That sucks, I have my front plate on just because I didn't want to get hassled all the time, figured I'd try and keep it somewhat legal just for once

Jeffblue 05-26-2010 07:09 AM

i'm not talking about front plates as much as like, meter running out etc. I understand the logic behind enforcing metered parking, but at the same time i come to a question. I'm pretty sure anyone who has a job that causes other people problems, has some way of rationalizing it. Whether it be a repo guy (who is taking cars from people who HAVENT paid for them or whoever) What i don't understand is how a police officer really feels like they are protecting and serving by standing there waiting for your meter to run out, so that when you get there 3 minutes later, you have to pay a parking ticket. I understand giving parking tickets if the meter is way over etc, but come on, i've seen them wait there for it. I also understand writing tickets when someone is illegally parked in front of a hydrant or a fire zone etc, but not for waiting for a meter to expire so they can get some money for their municipality.

Just playing devils advocate. The metermaid has a job to do and kids to feed too. They don't get paid per ticket or have a quota (that they'll admit to), but I'm sure the total number of tickets in a year goes to performance evaluations and those go to promotions which leads to more money for the kids. And maybe a job that isn't reffered to as metermaid.

"POLITICIAN: A PERSON WHO CAN FIND 1,000 COMPLICATIONS TO A SOLUTION." Cops only do what politicians tell them to. Blame it on the right kind!

So...if you're from out of state, then they can't write a ticket for no front plate, right?

Nope they can write you a ticket, they coulda also wrote me a ticket because I dont have a chicago city sticker (since I live in the south burbs)

And in chicago its not the po po that writes the ticket, its a paid and hired meter maid. I understand like if the streets are packed, and some *** is taking up a spot you coulda had and isnt even paying for it, but that early in the morning there was plenty of empty space on the streets still. That and if your gunna hit someone with a $50 fine, ok, but to ruin their day by giving them TWO $50, thats what pissed me off.

Oh yea and I forgot to mention, when I was opening my passenger side door to put my bag in the car, I chipped the edge of the door on the sidewalk :( I guess someone was punishing me for my sexcapades :(

mdbrich 05-26-2010 01:50 PM

I leave my front plate in the right hand corner of the windshield.

Lemers 05-26-2010 03:10 PM

In Texas law is displayed to the front and rear of the car. I've as a constible about the windshield and he said he considers that to be displayed up not front. So he would give that a ticket.

Jeffblue 05-26-2010 03:14 PM

Yea metermaids are what i'm talking about. I understand you are just playing devils advocate, so we can humor one another. I don't think having kids to feed can necessarily rationalize doing a job. Smuggling drugs? Being a Hit-Man? STEALING CARS? I see your point i just think that all they really do is create revenue for the state and piss off people.
