canadian-police-pull-over-entire-mini-convoy

Hey everyone check out this recent article from here in Ontario, can you believe the power trip some officers take on people trying to enjoy their cars! In this case even worse because it's linked to charity!

Canadian police pull over entire Mini convoy — Autoblog

Heads up to everyone meeting and cruising, you never know what will be up the road

AK370Z 05-04-2010 01:12 PM

I read this on Autoblog. Very sad. I think cops here are a lot forgiving in the United States.

Another great Canadian police moment! Congrates!

Chriz 05-04-2010 01:29 PM

This is just wrong...and it was a charity event too

red6spd 05-04-2010 01:38 PM

Thats messed up. Some of the things cops do is real messed up. I bothered by the cops alot just for having tint exhaust crap like that. I cant wait to see what happens when I get the Z.

What will happen is cops will tailgate you without lights on at night and wait for an excuse to switch on Christmas lights.

i guess the cops have nothing better to do.

arent they suppose to fight crime instead of screwing with charitable organizations like this?

Fail.

Anatoray 05-04-2010 04:04 PM

100% pure awesome. I thought cops could be pricks already, but I never EVER envisioned them using information given by a group doing a charity event to set up a trap and ticket them.

Take a step back and just put all the pieces together. The police were given the route for a charity event and agreed, together, to effectively **** these people up. Can you imagine what they were saying to each other while they planned this out? "It's time to nail these damn philanthropists! This'll teach them to help other people on our streets."

Abuse of power at its finest. No good deed goes unpunished.

Crazy8 05-04-2010 05:18 PM

That's dirty as hell.

CBRich 05-04-2010 06:08 PM

Another story to reaffirm to me that police are simply a source of revenue.

fullmonty 05-04-2010 06:19 PM

What makes it worse they were doing it for a charity

370zFORme!! 05-04-2010 06:20 PM

They prob thought the convoy was on their way to do some bank heist Italian Job style. As always I blame Canada... :shakes head:

m4a1mustang 05-04-2010 06:38 PM

Dirty! Though it does appear that a number of them were speeding... but still, they were set up so they were going to get stopped whether or not they were speeding.

dad 05-04-2010 06:43 PM

That is so chicken ****!

Togo 05-04-2010 07:00 PM

I think that is a bit of a **** move by the cops but am I the only one that read the article?

Speed limit is 100 KPH (62 MPH) and drops to 90 KPH (56 MPH). The drivers were clocked at 121-123 KPH (75-76 MPH) at the change which means they were already 21-23 KPH (13-14 MPH) over the limit prior to the speed drop which now brings them to 31-33 KPH (19-20 MPH) OVER the legal limit.

Regardless of the tact or lack of on the part of the officers, the Mini group was breaking the law and apparently some were breaking more than one. (Apparently you can't have radar detectors there?)

Isn't the saying "you gotta pay to play!"?

z370z 05-05-2010 07:50 AM

Correct radar detectors are technically illegal in most of Canada..... However your comment on the speeding aspect of the article ; here in Ontario in a 100KM zone (which is highway/interstate speed to us) the flow of traffic no matter what day or time of day is always at least 120km. The police set to catch them just as they crossed the transition between speed limit change, which was the **** move on their part.

shumby 05-05-2010 07:59 AM

ya the police will pull you over on the 401 if you are doing 100km/h as they will say you are impeeding the flow of traffic. The get their money either way and you cannot win. OPP GTFO

370Zsteve 05-05-2010 08:04 AM

Never realized Canada was so traffic-nazi

You'd think with the low population density and all that limits would be more Euro..........

shumby 05-05-2010 10:12 AM

it is just ontario and the french that got a hard on for speeders.

shoopajae10 05-05-2010 12:22 PM

Dallas cops are like angels compared to these ***holes.

My friend fell asleep on the wheel drunk at a stop light in down town dallas, and they took him to jail. next day they let him go with only public intoxication and a fee of only 250bucks.

Canadians are harsh!!

Togo 05-05-2010 04:28 PM

Well I'm certainly not saying I don't speed because any vehicle with a throttle, I'll speed in (except when I'm flying, I don't break FARs) but I don't complain that a cop is a **** when he nails me for doing something I'm not supposed to be doing.

Now, if those cops where going to write a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic by only going 100KPH then thats seriously fucked up. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
