Parking Tickets.....HELP

today i got a ticket while i was at school.

I parked at the train station and then take the train to go to school.
since it is winter time. most ppl park their cars really badly. as in taking up space into the next parking spot and a chain reaction takes place where the next car parks even more into the next spot and then it just gets worse and worse, so i parked my car on one lane marking.........and the rest was on the side of a lane

there is enough space to drive by, it's not like i was blocking the way.
What am i suppose to do when the lot fills up, i can't park in someone's drive way....lol :icon14:

here's my drawing, i am Car A and Car B is next to me

and here's a google map of the area.....

I still think it's ridiculous...
not to mention the train service is garbage...comes 30+ mins late.... :shakes head:

for example, i left my class at 5:30 pm and caught the 5:25pm train
so how is this possible you ask.....well the 5:25pm train left at 6:20pm
it was so packed that we had to leave tons of ppl on the platform.... ppl were pushing each other to get in the train....over packed.

what do you think i should do??? I feel like contesting it :icon23:

any advice??

Sorry, man. The way I see it, it's not a designated parking space.

nogoodname 02-05-2009 05:37 PM

^^ but where to park if no spots

I got to go to school and it's not like cars come and go at train stations

How much for the ticket? It's probably not worth your while to fright it.

The way you parked impeded emergency vehicles; it is really a life/safety issue you violated. Actually, you are lucky they did not tow it away!

^^ ok, it's a parking lot, not an expressway

even if there was an emergency...a firetruck would not be able to pass by with the parking lot layout in the 1st place....

I'm still gonna contest it, there's a explanation section on the back of the ticket and they will review it and decide on it

Do whatever please you, but if it only $20 - $30 dollars fine I will just pay it.

Before you fight it I would go to the city and determine the applicable parking layout for dimensions, and in this case what the minimum alloted space is for lanes between and around designated spaces. If you have violated a code then you it will not bode well in court.

Coming from a place where I deal with this constantly, I personally think you didn't have much of a choice in that situation. I wouldn't want my car so close that someone could hit it. I've done what you did and a lot of times is absolutely called for.

Contest it. You were protecting your property, and the other person inhibited you to do that in the space you would have normally choose.

Not your fault, you had places to go, and the right to make your property safe.

You parked in a non-designated spot, pay the ticket. In the diagram you provided, unless it is incorrect, we clearly see that you parked your car next to a parking spot, and not an actual spot. As stated by BanningZ he mentions that he feels that it is in his right to protect his property, but so does everyone else, and by protecting one's property everyone can do whatever they please, right? If it is difficult to find a parking spot and you're in a hurry, wake up earlier, and get to the lot earlier to give yourself more time to get to your destination.

One other thing is and it could or could not work is, you can contest the ticket by means that the lot should havve closed itself off when it is full. No reason, why a 100 car lot stays open and tries to squeeze in another 15 or so cars when there is clearly no spots open. The amount of time spent on contesting a parking ticket is not worth it in my opinion, for $25 or $45 whatever the cost is, it doesn't affect your insurance, and you're not banned from the lot.

well, now i'm at a point where i might as well contest it b/c i will be using the train for the next 4 to 5 years...and i will be parking at the same place for all those years....

40 dollars now, but that's just the beginning......lol......and i refuse to park on the street in the neighbourhood....my friend did and it got side swiped by a city snow plow.
