WSJ: Apple's iPhone Coming to Verizon Wireless - DailyFinance

BLUESLATE 04-08-2010 07:48 PM

That's indeed a great news..., but I don't know how they'll deal with the notorious CDMA battery life issues on it.

Hopefully, it won't gain much weight in order to put a bigger battery. I'd hate to see a bulkier iPhone.

theDreamer 04-08-2010 09:23 PM

I have the Droid and battery life is much better than my old iPhone 3G and competes perfectly equally with a co-workers 3Gs.

bigaudiofanat 04-08-2010 09:48 PM

As many times as I try the droid and use the droid just over complicated. I do like it but I think it is more of a toy than the iphone just my opinion.

XwChriswX 04-08-2010 10:58 PM

I'm gonna skip the droid and go for the nexus one... we'll see how that goes..

Well the Droid just got 2.1 so it is one par software wise with the Nexus one, but the N1 just blows it out of the water in terms of raw power (snapdragon CPU plus more memory).
In terms of use v. the iPhone, that is a bit of a wash really. Both interact in the same way, after spending two years with an iPhone and still supporting them I can tell you migrating through either OS is the same. Your only differences is where items may be located under a menu option which is how it will be with any OS (mobile, desktop, server, etc.).

Well this news needs to be confirmed by both Verizon and Apple. I have Verizon and I was about to switch to AT&T just to get the iPhone. I guess I'll just wait for a while then.

Verizon's CEO made a statement saying he is "ready for an iPhone," but that means nothing. It just means he wants one on his network and is Apple willing to bring it out with CDMA?

The OS will be nothing special for me... I just like the look/feel of the physical part of the iPhone. (Touchscreen, no sliding, no qwerty pad) And the droid didn't give me that. So that's where I'm going with switching to the nexus one. Plus that lil ball that will change colors is shiny... :icon14: :excited: Shiny things!

Don't completely count on the iPhone coming to Verizon. Verizon executives aren't going to play Apple's game and lay down and roll over. Apple has way too many demands and restrictions that Verizon laughs at; and they (Apple) want complete control. They fail to realize that it's NOT their network. So unless Apple compromises on their demands, no iPhone on Verizon. In my opinion, I think Apple will have to, and also wants the iPhone on their network. As more and more Android devices become available on ATT, Apple's market share will start decrease...which it has already.

Not to mention it seems like iPhones each have their own problems... I'm on my 3rd myself and this one's already messed up once now as well. It's not like there is a trend, but when Each one has a problem, well now that tells me something about their Q/A... :ugh2:

Also, Apple is still plugging away very happily on AT&T with sales, with the recent 4th generation phone leaked today with pictures it seems they do not need to worry about being on multiple networks here in the US.

In other countries they must because of legal reasons, but also in other countries almost 90% of cell networks are GSM so that means one phone, one solution, no headaches.

Confirmed: Apple and AT&T signed five-year iPhone exclusivity deal -- but is it still valid? -- Engadget

Unless there is a loop hole Apple has found since 2007 (which I doubt), there are two more years left on this contract between Apple & AT&T, keep waiting.

C4talyst 05-10-2010 04:39 PM

I have a free iphone through my job and just upgraded my personal Blackberry to a Droid Incredible on the Verizon network. I like the Droid better; it's faster and does everything I need it to do flawlessly.

My HTC Incredible has a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM.

370zFORme!! 05-10-2010 04:52 PM

Read this article. It basically says Apple extended their contract with AT&T for another 6 months due to the release of the Ipad and the need for a 3G network. Sucks that verizon and apple cant get their ducks in a row..

iClarified - Apple News - AT&T Extended iPhone Exclusivity Through iPad Data Plan?

I could see that, and Apple win with the exclusive (even though some do not see it).

labk888 05-11-2010 12:31 AM

The whole subsidizing of phones is crap anyway. Let me buy the phone and pick my carrier. </end rant>

I hope the rumors for the front facing camera are true. iPhone + front facing camera + Skype = EPIC.

PapoZalsa 05-11-2010 09:32 PM

I hope Verizon don't get the iPhone, there are expensive and the customer service is terrible!
